Job description

Civil Engineer - Land Development

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our growing Land Development team. This is primarily an office-based design role focused on site civil engineering rather than construction management. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in land development projects while working closely with experienced professionals.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, takes initiative, and is interested in advancing into a Project Management role within 12-18 months.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with site civil engineering design for land development projects, including:

Grading and earthwork

Stormwater management and drainage systems

Water, sewer, and utility infrastructure

Roadway and site layout design

Prepare engineering plans and construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Perform engineering calculations related to stormwater management, utility systems, and earthwork quantities.

Support the preparation of technical reports, exhibits, permit applications, and project documentation.

Review and organize survey data, topographic information, geotechnical reports, and related project materials.

Coordinate with internal project teams, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and external consultants.

Assist with permitting efforts and ensure compliance with local, state, and municipal development requirements.

Conduct quantity takeoffs, cost estimate support, and project data analysis.

Participate in project meetings and contribute to successful project delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D through academic or professional experience.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Internship or professional experience with a civil engineering consulting firm.

Experience or exposure to land development projects.

Familiarity with local, state, and municipal development regulations and permitting processes.

Exposure to stormwater modeling software such as:

ICPR

HEC-RAS

Hydra flow

EPA SWMM
