Design Engineer

Founded in 2024, this rapidly growing engineering consulting firm employs approximately 10 to 50 professionals, with the majority of its team based at its Atlanta, Georgia headquarters. The company specializes in delivering innovative mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation engineering solutions for mission critical environments. Its core focus is designing highly reliable, efficient, and scalable infrastructure that supports next-generation digital and computing technologies.

The Atlanta location serves as the central hub for engineering design, client collaboration, and project delivery, supporting hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center projects across the United States. Teams at this location lead integrated MEP system design efforts, ensuring mechanical systems are tightly coordinated with electrical distribution, building controls, fire protection, and plumbing infrastructure to deliver fully optimized mission critical facilities.

The organization supports clients in industries such as hyperscale data centers, colocation providers, enterprise technology companies, high-performance computing, and emerging AI infrastructure, all of which rely on highly coordinated MEP systems to maintain uptime, redundancy, and energy efficiency.

The Design Engineer will play a key role in designing and integrating advanced MEP systems, ensuring mission critical facilities achieve optimal performance, resiliency, and efficiency across all infrastructure components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems as part of integrated MEP solutions, including HVAC, chilled water systems, air distribution, and thermal management infrastructure for mission critical environments.
  • Perform load calculations, redundancy analysis, and system sizing while coordinating closely with electrical and plumbing disciplines to ensure balanced and resilient facility design.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with electrical, controls, fire protection, and plumbing engineers to deliver fully coordinated MEP designs that meet client performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.
  • Utilize advanced modeling tools, including CFD and energy modeling, to evaluate airflow, heat rejection, and system efficiency across mechanical and MEP systems.
  • Support development of detailed construction documents, specifications, and design standards while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, ASHRAE guidelines, and mission critical design best practices.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with experience in MEP system design, HVAC engineering, or building systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of integrated MEP systems within mission critical or data center environments, including cooling, power coordination, and infrastructure redundancy.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting coordinated design between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls systems.
  • Proficiency with Revit is a must for this position
  • Experience with CFD, load modeling, or energy analysis is preferred.
  • Nice to have: Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center design, knowledge of ASHRAE standards for data centers, exposure to building automation systems, and familiarity with sustainable or low PUE design strategies.

Benefits
