Job description

Job Description:

About the Role

Jain Global LLC is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund. We are seeking a Junior Execution Support Engineer to join our Execution Support team.

This is a trading desk-based role providing direct support to Portfolio Managers and Traders across the firm's trading platforms. The role sits at the intersection of the investment teams, Technology, Operations, Compliance, and external trading vendors.

This is an opportunity for someone early in their career to develop strong technical and financial markets expertise within a front-office trading environment. You will work alongside experienced Execution Support Engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to trading systems, electronic trading, the trade lifecycle, and the technology that supports a global investment firm.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, an interest in financial markets, and a willingness to learn. We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys troubleshooting complex problems, and can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line production support for Portfolio Managers and Execution Traders across OMS, EMS, FIX, APIs, and related trading systems.

  • Monitor production trading systems and respond to alerts, incidents, and user queries.

  • Assist with investigating issues involving orders, executions, allocations, positions, market data, connectivity, and downstream trading workflows.

  • Use Linux, SQL, application logs, and monitoring tools to investigate and diagnose production issues.

  • Develop an understanding of FIX protocol, electronic trading workflows, and the end-to-end trade lifecycle.

  • Work closely with senior Execution Support Engineers, Technology teams, Operations, Compliance, and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

  • Support UAT, production releases, system upgrades, and deployment of new functionality.

  • Develop and maintain Python-based tools and automation to improve trading and support workflows.

  • Assist with new broker, trading platform, API, and investment team onboarding.

  • Help identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve system reliability, monitoring, automation, and operational processes.

  • Maintain clear support documentation and runbooks and contribute to the continued improvement of the Execution Support function.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in application support, production support, software engineering, financial technology, or a similar technical role.

  • Strong interest in financial markets, electronic trading, and trading technology.

  • Good understanding of Linux and confidence working from the command line.

  • Experience with SQL and working with data.

  • Experience with Python or another scripting/programming language.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to investigate problems and understand how systems work.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to remain organized and effective in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related discipline.

Desirable Experience

The following would be beneficial but is not required:

  • Experience working within a hedge fund, asset manager, investment bank, broker, exchange, or financial technology company.

  • Exposure to OMS or EMS platforms such as FlexTrade.

  • Understanding of the trade lifecycle, including orders, executions, allocations, positions, and P&L.

  • Knowledge of FIX protocol or electronic trading systems.

  • Experience with APIs, JSON, REST, or other system integrations.

  • Exposure to equities, options, futures, FX, fixed income, or derivatives.

  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices.

Compensation

Jain Global offers a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary bonus, and comprehensive benefits. The estimated base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $145,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual's experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer

As an employer, we believe every individual brings with them unique diversity of thought and perspectives to meaningfully enrich perspectives of Jain Global teams to drive competitive performance. We believe an inclusive environment can yield exceptional contributions.
