About the jobย 

The Platformย Data Interfacesย team in the Platform Services division is looking for aย Seniorย Software Developer.ย ย This teamย is responsible forย building andย maintainingย the access layer for theย applicationย storage solutionsย inย the SAS Viya Platformย usingย Golangย and other technologies asย required. As a member of thisย team, you will help toย maintainย and improve the use of these technologies in our platform, adhere to SLAs and security compliance needs, and developย new solutionsย forย data storage and access within the system.ย 

As aย Seniorย Software Developer,ย we are looking for someone who:ย 

  • Designs and develops high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D bestย practices and processes.

  • Activelyinvolves other project stakeholders (e.g.ย managers, developers, user interface and visual designers, product managers) to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards.

  • Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task.

  • Ensures quality through functional, unit and performance testing; works closely with testing by providing thorough reviews of the test plan and communicates when updates to the plan should be made to cover code changes related to enhancements, redesigns and/or bug fixes.

  • Maintains accountability for the entire life cycle of theย codeย including support for both internal and external consumers.

  • In collaboration with technical writers, authorsย appropriate levelย of design and technical documentation that satisfies both internal and external consumers.

  • Participatesย in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.

  • Ensuresย all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required qualifications:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field

  • 8+ years of experience as a developer on large software projects

  • Experience writing Golangย and/or Java

  • Experience withย Relational Databases

  • Experience using GitHubย for source management

  • Experience with integration, regression, and unit testing

  • Experience using Agile development practices

  • Experienceย operatingย in a CI/CD environment

  • Experience with Liquibase and/or other database schema management and migration tools

  • Familiarity withย data-persistenceย in cloud environments

  • Familiarityย with various cloud environments and concepts

  • Equivalentย combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.ย
