Job description

Who You'll Work With:
This is an entry level but high-profile role in a high impact team. The successful candidate will be required to provide analysis to support commercial decisions for the purpose of pricing both performing and non-performing loan portfolio opportunities while working with analytics professionals, investment advisors and senior stakeholders to develop and achieve business strategies. The expectation is that the candidate will develop robust analytical skills by learning how to effectively leverage databases, datasets, models and a variety of current technology while developing commercial skills over time.
This role will report to the Loan Portfolio Director and located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
What You'll Do:
  • Work closely with analytics and trading professionals to develop and maintain cashflow models to support debt and structured product purchase pricing decisions
  • Collaborate with investment advisors to develop a clear understanding of value and risks in new investment opportunities during the underwriting process
  • Carry out performance analysis and reporting for portfolios and investors
  • The role may include responsibilities for loan portfolio investments across the global loan portfolio team but will be primarily focussed on the US

What We're Looking For:
Required
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline
  • History of achievement and strong work ethic
  • 1+ years of experience in transactional finance, structured credit, corporate finance, financial analysis, statistics, analytics or other related fields
  • Highly analytical and creative mind set but also with a strong commercial orientation
  • Significant curiosity in capital markets, trading and analytics
  • Interest and capability to learn and understand core business and deliver results from a strategic perspective
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Ability and desire to periodically work extended hours based on deal activities
  • Ability to travel as needed although travel is expected to be limited

Preferred
  • Experience in financial services sector
  • Some proficiency with Excel, Intex, SAS, Python, Snowflake and Looker; however, relevant training and on the job learning will be provided
  • CFA (complete or in process)
  • Experience in loan portfolio analysis and consumer loans and/or relevant investment experience with respect to financial or economic modelling

In accordance with applicable law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:
Base Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000
Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB CarVal, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards.
