Job description

About Scout Freight

At Scout Freight, we deliver smart, reliable freight solutions built on trust, precision, speed, and performance. From dry and liquid bulk to heavy haul, open‑deck, drop trailer, temperature-controlled, and both full and less-than-truckload services, we tailor scalable and dependable logistics to meet diverse customer needs. We stay ahead of disruptions through real-time tracking, strong carrier relationships, and responsive communication, enabling proactive service and peace of mind for our clients.

Job Purpose

As a Business Development Manager, you'll spearhead customer acquisition and account growth across Scout Freight’s specialized service offerings—such as dry/liquid bulk, heavy haul, managed transportation, open-deck, drop-trailer, and temperature-controlled solutions. You’ll deliver exceptional service while driving business growth in a fast-evolving logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales targets and earn competitive commission through proactive outreach and effective deal closure.
  • Drive new business development within key service lines: FTL, LTL, bulk transport, heavy haul, open-deck, drop trailer, temperature-controlled, and managed transportation.
  • Onboard and manage client accounts, delivering consultative logistics solutions that align with customer needs.
  • Act as a logistics solutions advocate, educating prospects on Scout Freight’s service capabilities—from precision load matching to performance analytics.
  • Leverage real‑time visibility tools and reliable carrier relationships to address disruptions, ensure on-time delivery, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including operations and carriers, to align sales efforts with delivery capabilities and supply chain execution.
  • Analyze and report on key performance indicators—loading accuracy, transit times, customer satisfaction—to continuously optimize sales strategy.
  • Nurture long-term partnerships, building trust through consistency, integrity, and a deep commitment to client success.
  • Stay agile and adaptable, embracing challenges as Scout Freight scales and innovates across services.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Communications, Logistics, or related field.
  • Experience: 2–5+ years in logistics, broker sales, or account management, with familiarity in specialized freight services preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency in logistics systems, and data-driven decision-making.

Competencies

  • Strong negotiation and sales strategy skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Collaborative team player with adaptability and eagerness to learn.
  • Analytical mindset focused on improving processes and outcomes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and performance, plus attractive commission opportunities.
  • Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance. Ability to contribute to a company 401(k).
