Description
GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Associate Coordinator, Love of Children Initiative will work closely with the Minister for Youth Formation/Coordinator, Love of Children Initiative to execute the programs defined by the Lilly Endowment grant proposal including leading children's ministry cohorts, developing intergenerational worship resources, and equipping congregations across the denomination to center children in worship and church life focusing on birth through 6th grade and their caretakers. They are a liaison for Conference/Local Church staff who are engaged in ministry with children and families and will design and curate programs and resources to support the same in their faith education and formation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinateall programing for the Love of Children Initiative under the supervision of the Minister for Youth Formation, Love of Children Initiative as laid out in the Lily grant proposal and agreement.
  • Maintain a vibrant relationship with Lily through participating in monthly calls and annual in-person gatherings.
  • Attend site visits with children's ministry cohorts and administrate a vibrant experience for cohort ministers from start to finish.
  • Prepare annual reports submitted to the Lily Endowment and communicating critical needs and deadlines to relevant NMUCC colleagues on the Finance and FaithINFO teams.
  • Relate to the contract positions and ministry partners of the Love of Children Initiative and ensure all are paid according to the agreements.
  • Develop and curate robust resources for intergenerational worship in alignment with the Love of Children Initiative as well as cultural and contextual needs of specific Local Churches.
  • Maintain awareness and referrals to faith formation resources for children and families including service opportunities/mission trips, leadership development opportunities, internships, and other areas of need.
  • Netwook and connect children's ministry leaders and/or volunteers to one another for collegiality and the building of stronger networks to serve children in all areas of the church and the wider community
  • Collect and tell the stories of children and children's ministry across the Church and how they fit within the wider narrative of the United Church of Christ, collaborating with the Office of Marketing and Philanthropy to create news stories, social media posts and funding streams that support the work of children's faith development.
  • Update the website and social media platforms and create and prepare printed materials and other administrative tasks related to the program as assigned.

Position Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.
  • College degree and theological training or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least four years' experience with children's ministry or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years' experience developing and leading programs.
  • Experience creating and executing contracts related to programing.
  • Familiarity with the United Church of Christ's theology and structure.
  • Competent in the creation of content both written and graphic for programmatic use
  • Ease of learning and engaging various social media platforms
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality when necessary.
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious settings with commitment to pluralism in the workplace as well as in one's understanding of mission.
  • Ability to travel to Cleveland as required for staff meetings, in addition to leading cohort site visits.
  • Proficient computer skills with a focus on programs and systems including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Canva, and Zoom.

OTHER:
This is a 2-year term position funded through December 2027. This position does not require relocation to Cleveland.
