Supplier Quality Engineer Associate (Internship) Company Overview

Role Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer Associate (Intern)  utilizes QA/Quality Control (QC) principles to support New Generation Services (NGS), ensuring GT Auxiliaries product and service meet customer requirements. This role supports the Mitsubishi Power Americas (MPWA) Quality Management System (QMS) processes and communications, ensuring customer and corporate satisfaction. This is a non-exempt, part-time position.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support in-process and final inspection on finished products and materials, including structural weldments, machined components, mechanical assemblies, packaged equipment, and electrical assemblies
  • Review vendor procedures for compliance to appropriate specifications and criteria
  • Monitor and track procurements with Global Sourcing to assure quality criteria are satisfied
  • Review customer and supplier inspection/test plans to ensure proper witness and hold points are incorporated; review vendor quality submittals for adequacy
  • Obtain Quality Records Packages from vendors, review for adequacy, and input into MPWA Document Control System
  • Generate quality-related procedures and specifications to support the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Support MPWA's Internal Audit program in development, training, and implementation
  • Provide support for Root Cause Analysis Process (8D format) and containment actions documentation and tracking
  • Support corrective and preventive action initiatives and implementation
  • Support collection and analysis of non-conformance data; assist in maintaining NCR database
  • Support identifying and interpreting data trends using Statistical Process Control techniques
  • Help develop and maintain actionable metrics (KPIs) to understand quality issues and apply improvements
  • Support the establishment of quality-related training programs and techniques
  • Assist in generating quality-related procedures and specifications to support the QMS
  • Perform other duties as required

Education and/or Experience:

  • College undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree (BS) in a technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Quality Management) from a four-year college or university (preferred); or graduate status with a 4-year completion of a technical discipline as mentioned above.

Personal Traits:

  • Must be able to promote a positive and professional demeanor at all times by optimizing communication techniques and responses through various levels of the corporation.
  • Must be results-oriented and team-oriented.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Proficient in geometry with the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of database software, project management software, spreadsheet software, word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.

  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
