About the Facility - Keesler Air Force Base
Keesler Medical Center serves over 56,000 beneficiaries within a 40-mile catchment area. About 35,000 outpatients are seen in the clinics each month including 800 to 1,000 patients from other medical facilities throughout the southeastern United States through the Aeromedical Evacuation System. Equipped with 100 operating inpatient beds (10 ICU) and a staff of more than 2,100 people, the center represents a major concentration of professional capability. The Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center in Biloxi has been named the best hospital in the Air Force. Psychiatrist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The Psychiatrist executes government-mandated patient care schedules.
  • Perform psychiatric assessments, evaluations, diagnoses, and interventions.
  • Construct and review patient case histories utilizing interview techniques.
  • Render psychiatric disorder diagnoses.
  • The Psychiatrist prescribes and evaluates the efficacy of a diverse range of therapeutic modalities.
  • Provide recommendations for psychiatric case disposition.
  • Offer expert counsel on mental health concerns and preventive measures.
  • Advise on the procurement and utilization of psychiatric supplies and equipment.
  • The Psychiatrist maintains meticulous records, engages in military-specific training, and provide instruction to interns and residents as necessary.

Psychiatrist - REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada.
  • Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training).
  • Experience: Shall have a minimum of 24 months within the last 36 months in similar field.
  • Board Certification: Shall have national and/or state (required) approved and current board certification or board eligible certification in the specialty area in which they provide clinical services.
  • Licensure/Certification: Active/unrestricted physician license from any state.
  • Life Support Certifications: AHA or ARC BLS Certification.
  • Security: Must possess ability to pass a government background check/security clearance.
