Description

Director, Global Electronics Supply Chain & Strategic Sourcing

About Us: ย

LayerZero Power Systems LLC. is a globally recognized leader in providing state-of-the-art power distribution solutions for critical industries. With a strong focus on reliability, innovation, and customer satisfaction, we deliver advanced power systems products that ensure uninterrupted and dependable power supply in mission-critical environments. Our customer base is comprised of companies in the data center (our main focus), financial, computer service provision, and semiconductor manufacturing sectors. LayerZero Power Systems is on a trajectory of sustained growth, with a loyal customer base of existing Fortune 100 customers and an expanding portfolio of new customers.ย

LayerZero Power Systems is seeking a seasoned Director, Global Electronics Supply Chain & Strategic Sourcing to build and lead a more proactive, resilient, and globally competitive electronics supply chain. This leader will own the strategy for electronic components, PCB assemblies, contract manufacturing, distribution partnerships, and supplier risk management while helping position the business ahead of demand rather than reacting to shortages and supply disruptions.

The ideal candidate will bring deep electronics industry expertise, strong relationships across contract manufacturers, distributors, and component suppliers, and a demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic supply chain initiatives at a global scale. This role offers significant growth potential and is intended to become a strong succession path for broader supply chain leadership, including future VP-level responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Define and lead the global electronics supply chain strategy for electronic components, PCB assemblies, EMS partners, and related commodities.
  • Build a global supplier and partner ecosystem across Asia, North America, and Europe to improve resilience, capacity access, cost competitiveness, quality, and speed.
  • Lead executive-level supplier negotiations, strategic agreements, allocation planning, and long-term commercial frameworks that support growth and supply continuity.
  • Market Intelligence & Supply Resilience
  • Anticipate electronics market dynamics, component availability, lead-time shifts, allocation risks, and emerging supply constraints before they impact production.
  • Develop proactive supply assurance strategies, including capacity reservations, alternate sourcing, lifecycle planning, and risk-based inventory strategies.
  • Create market intelligence, forecasting, and escalation processes that move the organization from reactive shortage management to proactive supply leadership.

Supplier Management

  • Establish senior-level relationships with OEMs, EMS providers, distributors, component manufacturers, and regional supply chain partners.
  • Set supplier performance expectations and governance across cost, quality, delivery, lead time, responsiveness, innovation, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead executive business reviews, supplier development plans, and escalation pathways with strategic partners.

Cost Optimization & Risk Management

  • Translate market trends, pricing movement, supply-demand signals, and geopolitical developments into actionable sourcing and business strategies.
  • Deliver total cost improvements through strategic negotiations, value engineering, design-to-cost collaboration, make/buy analysis, and supplier optimization.
  • Create and lead a formal electronics supply risk management framework addressing shortages, allocation, geopolitical exposure, lifecycle/obsolescence, and single-source dependencies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Sales/Customer teams to align supply chain strategy with product roadmaps, demand plans, and customer commitments.
  • Influence early design and NPI decisions to improve component availability, manufacturability, cost, scalability, and long-term supply continuity.
  • Serve as a senior supply chain advisor to leadership, providing visibility, recommendations, and decision support on critical electronics supply matters.

Compliance & Systems

  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations (e.g., RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals).
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems and sourcing tools to track procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost metrics.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 12-15 years of progressive global electronics supply chain, sourcing, procurement, or supplier management experience, including leadership of complex electronic components and PCB assembly strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience influencing cross-functional teams, managing strategic initiatives, and communicating effectively with senior executives.

Strong industry knowledge of:

  • Semiconductor supply chains
  • Passive and active electronic components
  • PCBA manufacturing processes and EMS providers
  • Established relationships and proven credibility with global electronics suppliers, contract manufacturers, distribution partners, and EMS providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve supply resilience, reduce total cost, strengthen supplier performance, and lead through periods of market volatility or supply disruption.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience working directly with Asia-based contract manufacturers, electronics suppliers, and distribution channels, including China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.
  • Familiarity with power electronics, power systems, or related industries.
  • Certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or CPIM.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Prior experience scaling a supply chain function or building processes, dashboards, governance, and organizational capability in a growing business.

Key Competencies

  • Executive-level strategic thinking and business judgment
  • Senior supplier negotiation, influence, and relationship-building skills
  • Global leadership presence and strong cross-cultural communication
  • Market intelligence, data-driven decision-making, and financial acumen
  • Ability to lead proactively in a fast-paced, global, growth-oriented environment

Why LayerZero Power Systems?

  • Opportunity to build and elevate a global electronics supply chain capability in a growing, technically advanced company
  • High-impact leadership role with visibility to senior executives and influence over company growth, customer commitments, and operational resilience
  • Significant career growth potential, including development toward broader supply chain leadership and future VP-level responsibilities
