Job Summary

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. is recruiting for a Senior Engineer, located in Jacksonville, FL. This role focuses on supporting manufacturing operations by troubleshooting complex systems, leading code and program modifications, managing change control projects, and providing technical training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to operations by leading troubleshooting efforts for sophisticated systems, including PLCs, Vision Systems, Robots, Servers, and HMIs.
  • Spearhead and oversee complex code and program modifications for advanced control systems, ensuring optimal performance and system integration.
  • Plan and execute moderately complex change control projects requiring conceptual evaluation, design and validation.
  • Identify, plan and execute complex change control projects requiring conceptual evaluation, design and validation.
  • Identify, plan and execute complex qualification of new equipment/controls and assist in vendor and site acceptance testing to meet engineering standards.
  • Identify and implement standard methodologies of project management.
  • Participate in technical design reviews for machine requirements and manufacturing/product specifications.
  • Perform concept analysis of capital projects for future project development.
  • Provide training and support to Operations Engineers and Technicians to operate, troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
  • Identify and resolve Corrective/Preventative actions to address Quality, Technical, and Manufacturing issues (Audit Actions, NCR’s, CAPA’s, etc).
  • Utilize cross‑functional collaboration with safety, quality, and operations to meet business objectives.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to interns and/or co‑ops.
  • Display technical depth and influence within the functional team.
  • Serve as a change agent by creating a learning culture and experimental mindset within the department and organization to improve business performance.
Qualifications

Education: University/Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

  • 4 to 6 years of experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in an empowered work team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement complex code modifications for industrial control systems with minimal oversight, leveraging advanced programming skills to enhance system functionality and reliability.
  • Expertise in designing, analyzing, and optimizing electrical systems and circuits, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Proven ability to assess and mitigate electrical hazards through the application of safety engineering principles, conducting thorough risk assessments, and developing comprehensive safety protocols.
Preferred Skills
  • Extensive expertise and strategic insight into industrial control systems, such as Allen‑Bradley and Siemens.
  • Advanced proficiency in a range of applications, including FactoryTalk, Wonderware, AB Studio 5000, Power BI, and Ignition.
  • In‑depth knowledge of industrial programming languages, including Ladder Logic, Python, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.
  • Leadership in the programming and configuration of motion devices, including servos and robotic arms.
  • High‑level expertise in designing and configuring inspection jobs for machine vision systems.
  • Strong background in supporting manufacturing operations with a proactive approach to industrial controls and software, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong capability in interpreting and analyzing electrical schematics to enhance system design and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production supervision, front‑line leading.
  • Experience working with vendors to select, source, quote, and procure off‑the‑shelf and custom‑designed components.
  • Experience working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment.
