Location: Chillicothe, IL
Details: 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role
Pay Rate: $43.00 - 46.00/hr. based on benefit inclusions
Job Summary
The Electronic Component Project Engineer supports sustainment, obsolescence mitigation, and design control activities for legacy electronic products. This role works under the guidance of engineering leadership to execute component- and system-level projects, ensuring product reliability, compliance, and lifecycle continuity through cross-functional collaboration and supplier engagement. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Responsibilities
  • Execute sustainment and obsolescence mitigation tasks aligned with project plans
  • Own technical deliverables for assigned components, including analysis, documentation, and reviews
  • Identify and assess risks related to component end-of-life, supplier changes, and supply constraints
  • Support mitigation strategies such as last-time buys, alternate part identification, and redesign efforts
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and lifecycle data
  • Support engineering change processes, including BOM updates and design documentation revisions
  • Contribute to design control activities, technical reviews, and change approvals
  • Coordinate and support validation testing (e.g., EMC, environmental, vibration, functional testing)
  • Analyze test data and summarize results to support engineering decisions
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical and supply continuity issues
  • Participate in project reviews, design reviews, and sustainment meetings
  • Support compliance activities (e.g., regulatory standards) and quality improvement initiatives

Years of Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a Master's degree
  • Internship experience is not considered toward required years of experience

Skills Required
  • Experience supporting NPI or legacy electronic hardware platforms
  • Knowledge of component obsolescence, sustainment strategies, and lifecycle management
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams
  • Understanding of electronic systems and components
