What is an internship full stack software developer?

An Internship Full Stack Software Developer job involves gaining hands-on experience in both front-end and back-end development. Interns collaborate with teams to design, develop, and test web applications using technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, databases, and server-side languages. They learn industry best practices, version control (e.g., Git), and work on real-world projects. This role helps interns build their technical skills and understand the software development lifecycle while contributing to a company's development efforts.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on as a full stack software developer intern?

As a Full Stack Software Developer intern, you can expect to work on a variety of tasks ranging from assisting with website interface updates to building and testing application features on both the front-end and back-end. Common responsibilities may include fixing bugs, writing and reviewing code, collaborating with senior developers, and participating in team meetings or code reviews. You'll likely use popular development tools and communicate regularly with both designers and software engineers to support ongoing projects. This hands-on experience will help you develop practical technical skills and expose you to the collaborative workflows common in modern software teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship full stack software developer?

To thrive as an Internship Full Stack Software Developer, you need a basic understanding of both front-end and back-end development, familiarity with core programming languages (such as JavaScript, Python, or Java), and enrollment in or completion of a related computer science program. Experience with frameworks like React or Node.js, version control systems like Git, and exposure to databases are typically beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication help you collaborate well with diverse teams. These capabilities are important because interns are expected to quickly adapt, contribute to multiple layers of a project, and clearly communicate progress or challenges in a fast-paced environment.

How to get an internship for full stack software developer?

To secure a full stack software developer internship, candidates should build a strong portfolio demonstrating skills in front-end and back-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks like React or Node.js. Gaining experience through personal projects, contributing to open-source, and obtaining relevant certifications can improve chances, along with applying through company career portals or internship programs and preparing for technical interviews. Having a solid understanding of version control systems like Git and good problem-solving skills are also beneficial.

Job description

About Halborn Inc
Our mission is to provide value-add security services and products to the world's most cutting edge technology firms and that starts with blockchain tech. Founded in 2019, Halborn is an elite cyber security company focused on solving complex adversarial problems unique to the cryptocurrency and fintech industries. From breaches and social engineering to stolen private keys and economic hacks, Halborn solves it. Our clientele are the exclusive blockchain companies as well as new startups with high growth trajectories.
Our Culture
Halborn is a globally distributed team of 100+, looking to grow our elite team of white hat hackers, sales professionals, security engineers and DevSecOps specialists who value independence, want to make their own hours, work for themselves and have a passion for the ever evolving cryptocurrency industry.
Our Commitment to Diversity
Halborn Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate based upon race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, sexual stereotypes, age, education, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics and celebrates the diversity of its growing team.
We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment Visas at this time.
Recruitment agencies and consultants may not submit resumes/CVs through this website or directly to managers. Halborn does not accept unsolicited agency resumes, and will not pay fees to any third-party agency or company that does not have a signed agreement with Halborn Inc.
We are looking for a full stack developer who is comfortable owning a feature from the database schema to the last pixel and who already builds with AI as a core part of how they work, not as a novelty. You will build the platforms our security researchers use to run engagements, the products our clients use to consume findings, and the AI-assisted workflows that let a small team operate at a scale that should not be possible. The work is real product engineering against real adversarial conditions, and the security bar is high because our customers are the reason it has to be.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and ship features end to end across a React and TypeScript front end and Python or Node.js services, taking ownership from technical design through production support.
  • Model data and design APIs that hold up as requirements change - clear contracts, sane migrations, and schemas that will not need to be rescued in six months.
  • Build AI-native product capabilities: LLM orchestration, agentic and multi-step workflows, retrieval over engagement data, and structured output that downstream systems can rely on.
  • Use AI coding tooling aggressively in your own development loop while maintaining the review discipline that keeps generated code from becoming a liability.
  • Automate internal engineering and security workflows, turning processes our researchers currently run by hand into durable product surface.
  • Write secure code by default - input validation, authentication and authorization, secrets handling, dependency hygiene - and treat security review as part of shipping, not a gate at the end.
  • Participate in code review as both author and reviewer, raising the standard of the codebase rather than just approving diffs.
  • Deploy and operate what you build: containerized services, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and the on-call ownership that comes with running production systems.
  • Collaborate directly with security researchers, auditors, and product stakeholders to translate deep domain expertise into software that non-experts can use.
  • Contribute to technical direction - framework choices, architecture, and the tradeoffs behind them - and document decisions so the team can move without you in the room.

Qualifications
  • 4 or more years building and shipping production web applications, with genuine ownership on both the front end and the back end.
  • Strong React and TypeScript, including modern state management, component architecture, and CSS competent enough to build an interface without a designer hovering.
  • Strong server-side skills in Python, Node.js, or both, with production experience designing REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Solid relational database experience - PostgreSQL preferred - including schema design, query performance, and migrations.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines you configured yourself.
  • Demonstrated AI-forward development practice: you integrate LLM APIs into real products, you use AI coding assistants as part of your daily loop, and you can articulate where they accelerate you and where they need a human.
  • Security-minded engineering instincts and a working understanding of common web vulnerability classes and how to prevent them.
  • Excellent asynchronous written communication and the self-direction to own outcomes across time zones without being managed day to day.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity in a constantly changing and evolving work environment where growth is non-stop.
  • Willingness to learn the technical aspects of blockchain and cybersecurity.

Bonus Points
  • Web3 development experience - ethers.js or viem, wallet integrations, RPC providers, or Solidity and Rust smart contract familiarity.
  • Experience building agentic systems, working with the Model Context Protocol, vector databases, or evaluation frameworks for LLM features.
  • DevSecOps experience: infrastructure as code, secrets management, supply chain security, or automated security scanning in CI.
  • Prior work at a cybersecurity, fintech, or crypto company, or on products handling sensitive customer data.
  • Experience taking a product from zero to one on a small team.
  • Open source contributions.
  • Knowledgeable of the latest trends in Blockchain and DeFi.
