What is an internship full stack developer?

An Internship Full Stack Developer job is a temporary position where candidates gain hands-on experience in both front-end and back-end web development. Interns typically work with technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, databases, and server-side frameworks to develop and maintain web applications. They often collaborate with senior developers, participate in coding tasks, fix bugs, and contribute to real-world projects. This role helps interns build practical skills, understand development workflows, and prepare for full-time roles in software development.

What kind of projects or tasks will I work on as an internship full stack developer?

As an Internship Full Stack Developer, you can expect to work on a variety of tasks that may include building user interfaces, developing backend APIs, integrating databases, fixing bugs, and supporting ongoing software projects. You'll typically collaborate with senior developers, designers, and other interns, allowing you to learn agile development practices and improve your coding skills in real-world applications. The scope of your responsibilities may also expand based on your progress and the needs of the team, giving you opportunities to explore both front-end and back-end development. Familiarity with tools like version control (Git), frameworks (React, Angular, or Express), and basic web development environments is useful, though formal certifications are less critical for internship roles. Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication will help you excel and blend well into a development team. These abilities allow interns to contribute meaningfully to projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience and collaborating well with others.

What is the Corpsite team and why join?

The Corpsite team owns wwt.com, WWT's public digital front door and the primary way customers, partners, and IT practitioners discover who we are and what we can do. The site is far more than marketing pages: it is a content and community platform where practitioners read technical articles, watch expert briefings, follow learning paths, join discussion forums, request labs and workshops, and connect with WWT experts. Our mission is to make that experience fast, accessible, and genuinely useful - so that every visit moves someone closer to solving a real technology problem.

This is a Senior-level role on our engineering ladder, with career paths on to Lead, Team Lead, or Solutions Architect. Joining Corpsite means your work is visible. Features you ship are used by thousands of visitors, and you will see the impact in engagement data within days rather than quarters. You will work across the full stack on a modern JavaScript codebase, partner directly with design, content, marketing, and SEO teams, and have real ownership over the areas you build.

Here are some examples of the kind of work the team takes on:

  • Building and evolving content experiences on wwt.com - articles, videos, case studies, and expert briefings - with a focus on discoverability and performance.
  • Improving site-wide search and recommendations so practitioners can find relevant technical content quickly.
  • Migrating and modernizing key areas of wwt.com onto an upgraded Nuxt application, improving page performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
  • Developing personalization features that tailor content and calls to action based on a visitor's interests and history.
  • Partnering with SEO and analytics stakeholders to instrument the site and turn engagement data into product decisions.
  • Applying AI and LLM-based capabilities to site experiences, such as content summarization, semantic search, and automated content quality checks.
  • Strengthening the platform underneath the site - CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and Core Web Vitals - so releases are frequent and low-risk.

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Full Stack Developer on the team, you will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and delivering quality software that is thoughtful and maintainable. Your primary focus will be developing new features leveraging JavaScript, NodeJS, and Vue.js. You will own solutions from development through to production, tackle emerging issues as they arise, and offer technical and process guidance. You will also play a technical leadership role within the team, mentoring other developers to help ensure the team is high-performing and healthy.

Responsibilities:

  • Build functional software and deliver technical solutions that consistently exceed stakeholder expectations using web and AI technologies.
  • Ensure software and solutions scale well, are cost-effective, and adhere to software development best practices.
  • Provide technical and professional mentoring for team members, and help identify and scope work for others on the team.
  • Lead small projects and complex assignments with broad and ambiguous scope.
  • Devise and deliver creative solutions to complex business and technical problems, taking a technology-agnostic approach and leading others in the use of new techniques.
  • Own the solution from development through to production, including troubleshooting effectively under pressure.
  • Write thoughtful code that is maintainable and efficient, delivering high quality with limited rework.
  • Understand the big picture across wwt.com and identify problems, risks, and improvement opportunities before they become issues.
  • Interact directly with stakeholders to understand functional requirements and needs.
  • Demo solutions and present to groups of peers, and communicate status to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Participate in ideation sessions and strategic planning. Help foster a team-first environment grounded on an understanding of and a commitment to the WWT Core Values.
