What is an Internship Full Stack Developer job?

An Internship Full Stack Developer job is a temporary position where candidates gain hands-on experience in both front-end and back-end web development. Interns typically work with technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, databases, and server-side frameworks to develop and maintain web applications. They often collaborate with senior developers, participate in coding tasks, fix bugs, and contribute to real-world projects. This role helps interns build practical skills, understand development workflows, and prepare for full-time roles in software development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Internship Full Stack Developer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Full Stack Developer, you should have a solid understanding of both front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and a back-end language like Node.js or Python) and foundational knowledge of databases. Familiarity with tools like version control (Git), frameworks (React, Angular, or Express), and basic web development environments is useful, though formal certifications are less critical for internship roles. Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication will help you excel and blend well into a development team. These abilities allow interns to contribute meaningfully to projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience and collaborating well with others.

What kind of projects or tasks will I work on as an Internship Full Stack Developer?

As an Internship Full Stack Developer, you can expect to work on a variety of tasks that may include building user interfaces, developing backend APIs, integrating databases, fixing bugs, and supporting ongoing software projects. You'll typically collaborate with senior developers, designers, and other interns, allowing you to learn agile development practices and improve your coding skills in real-world applications. The scope of your responsibilities may also expand based on your progress and the needs of the team, giving you opportunities to explore both front-end and back-end development. Job description

Description:

About The Company

Yoder’s Building Services is a leading supplier of building materials and services in the Upstate region of South Carolina. We serve homebuilders, contractors, remodelers, and homeowners with high-quality materials, reliable service, and deep industry expertise.

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Developer to help design and build the next generation of our internal ERP and business systems. This is a hands-on technical role with real business impact. You will work directly with users, managers, executives, and customers to understand how the business operates, identify opportunities for improvement, and build practical software that solves meaningful problems.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit in isolation and code from a fixed ticket queue all day. It is a role for a strong developer who enjoys learning the business, asking good questions, designing systems, integrating complex workflows, and shipping reliable software in a dynamic environment.

Local/onsite is preferred but are open to remote.

What You’ll Do

You will join a small, capable IT team and help modernize, extend, and integrate systems across the company. Depending on business priorities, your work may include:

  • Designing and developing our next-generation ERP and operational software
  • Building mobile apps for iOS and Android for employees, customers, or field operations
  • Creating web applications that support internal teams and external users
  • Building middleware and integrations between existing business systems
  • Writing scripts and automation tools to reduce manual work
  • Developing SQL queries, reports, dashboards, and business intelligence tools
  • Improving workflows around inventory, sales orders, invoicing, fulfillment, purchasing, and accounting
  • Maintaining or modernizing existing websites and internal applications
  • Evaluating and introducing AI tools where they can create real business value
  • Helping users understand, adopt, and get the most out of new systems

Our Technology Environment

We are primarily a Microsoft-oriented environment, but we are open to the right tool for the job. Our current systems and tools include:

  • Windows, IIS, SQL Server, ASP.Net, and Crystal Reports
  • Laravel, Ubuntu, React, TypeScript, and web-based applications
  • iOS, Android, and Flutter
  • Industry-specific ERP and operational software
  • Zebra and Sato label printing systems
  • A variety of legacy and modern business systems that need to work together

You do not need to have experience with every tool in our environment. We care more about your ability to learn quickly, understand business needs, make sound technical decisions, and deliver working solutions.

Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a senior developer who can operate across the full software lifecycle: requirements discovery, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, support, and iteration.

You should have:

  • Several years of professional software development experience
  • Strong full stack development ability
  • Experience designing and implementing backend systems
  • Solid database experience, especially with business or operational data
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar
  • Experience building or integrating accounting, ERP, warehouse, inventory, or order management systems
  • The ability to architect and build distributed systems and integrations
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good judgment about when to build, buy, automate, simplify, or integrate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A helpful, team-oriented approach to working with technical and non-technical users
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn unfamiliar systems, tools, and business processes

Experience We Value

These are not all required, but they are especially helpful:

  • Experience developing mobile applications for iOS and Android
  • Experience with Laravel, SQL Server, IIS, Flutter, or similar technologies
  • Experience integrating with industry-specific or legacy software
  • Experience developing solutions for Zebra, Sato, or other label printers
  • Experience supporting reporting, dashboards, or business intelligence tools
  • Experience working in a small team where developers are close to the business

Who Thrives Here

You will likely do well in this role if you:

  • Like solving real-world business problems, not just technical puzzles
  • Are comfortable talking with users to understand what they actually need
  • Can move between architecture, coding, debugging, documentation, and support
  • Enjoy improving messy or inefficient systems
  • Are pragmatic, resourceful, and comfortable working in a growing business
  • Take ownership of outcomes, not just assigned tasks
  • Want your work to have visible impact across the company

Compensation and Benefits

Yoder’s offers a competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications, along with a range of benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
