Job description

FROSTY FUELS TERMINAL OPERATOR

Reports to: Terminal Manager
Location: Cold Bay, Alaska
Schedule: Rotational
Status: Non-exempt/hourly

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for safe and timely fueling of Frosty Fuels customers according to company procedures and established safety protocols. Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. This is a rotational two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off position with the flexibility to work longer shifts if necessary.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Champion Aleut values: accountability, transparency and rigor. 
  • Follow terminal policies and procedures with special attention to all job-specific health, environment, and safety guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot engine performance problems, make recommendations for repair, and create estimates based on proper diagnosis.
  • Conduct annual and routine maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
  • Clean and apply lubricant to machinery components as needed.
  • Perform fuel service and delivery of all fuel types, in accordance with company procedures, federal regulations, and established safety protocols.
  • Offload fuel from vessels into terminal storage tanks from the terminal marine dock.
  • Participate in fuel spill response training for water and land as required.
  • Ensure the terminal and surrounding area is maintained in an orderly and compliant fashion.
  • Ensure that all terminal operations are completed safely and in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform the essential functions in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to pass a hazmat physical.
  • Ability to perform mechanical and preventative maintenance.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster positive relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.

REQUIRED TRAINING (COMPANY PROVIDED)

  1. 40 Hour HAZWOPER training and 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher each year.
  2. Pollution Prevention Training, Overview of Oil Spill Response, Oil Spill Response Tools and Tactics.
  3. Small Vessel Safety.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid Alaska driver’s license.
  3. Must possess and maintain Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement
  4. Five (5) years of progressive experience as a diesel mechanic or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office demands.
  • This is a physically demanding role requiring regular lifting, carrying, and movement. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Work may be performed in outdoor and indoor environments, sometimes in inclement weather.

HOUSING & TRANSPORTATION 

  • Housing is provided by Employer, food and other necessities are the employee’s responsibility.
  • Round trip airfare will be provided from Anchorage to Cold Bay, Alaska.
  • Company vehicles will be provided while on location.
