Internships are temporary learning roles, while junior positions are ongoing employment opportunities.

What are some typical projects or tasks assigned to an Internship Frontend Web Developer?

As an Internship Frontend Web Developer, you can expect to work on tasks such as creating and updating user interfaces, fixing layout or responsiveness issues, and implementing new website features under the guidance of senior developers. You'll often collaborate with designers to translate mockups into functional web pages and may also participate in code reviews and team meetings to learn best practices. These responsibilities provide valuable exposure to real-world development workflows and are designed to help you build practical skills while contributing to ongoing projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship Frontend Web Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Frontend Web Developer, you need a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design principles, often supported by coursework or personal projects. Ford Motor Company

Job description

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Frontend and UI Developer to join the Connected Vehicle Division in support of the Telemetry and Observability Platform (TOP). In this role, you will build and maintain production-grade interfaces for three distinct user populations - dealer service technicians, validation and verification (V&V) engineers, and manufacturing quality teams - each with distinct workflow demands, device environments, and data visualization requirements driven by AI-generated diagnostics and real-time vehicle telemetry.

At Ford Motor Company, we believe freedom of movement drives human progress. As vehicles become software-defined, intelligent, and connected, our ability to compete depends on a fundamental shift: moving from reactive diagnostics to proactive observability.

We are building state-of-the-art AI-powered Embedded Vehicle Diagnostics capabilities that combine vehicle signals, diagnostics, logs, engineering knowledge, service procedures, and intelligent reasoning to improve case quality, accelerate fault isolation, guide next-best actions, and support scalable human-in-the-loop escalation.

This initiative sits at the intersection of embedded systems, cloud services, diagnostics, observability, and AI/ML engineering.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 4 or more years of professional frontend development experience building production web applications
  • 4 or more years of working experience in React or equivalent modern JavaScript framework, with strong component architecture skills
  • 4 or more years demonstrated experience building tablet-first or mobile-first web interfaces for non-consumer professional environments
  • 4 or more years of experience consuming REST and GraphQL APIs and translating structured AI or data service responses into clear, actionable UI presentations
  • 4 or more years in roles demonstrating strong CSS skills including responsive layout, design system implementation, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA minimum)
  • 4 or more years of experience with frontend testing frameworks and a genuine commitment to testable, maintainable component code
  • 4 or more years working directly with end users in field research or usability testing contexts, not just from written requirements
  • 4 or more years developing with frontend build tooling including Webpack or Vite, and deployment via GCP hosting services such as Firebase Hosting or Cloud CDN (Content Delivery Network)

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience building interfaces for industrial, manufacturing, or field service environments where users have limited screen time and high task urgency
  • Data visualization experience using D3.js, Recharts, or equivalent libraries for telemetry or diagnostic data display
  • Experience integrating real-time data streams into frontend applications using WebSocket or Server-Sent Events
  • Familiarity with Grafana or Dynatrace dashboard concepts, particularly for real-time display environments
  • Exposure to automotive dealer workflows or vehicle diagnostic tooling

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:
Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
Tuition assistance
Established and active employee resource groups
Paid time off for individual and team community service
A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day
Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $85,400-$143,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
