Job description

Octagon Talent Solutions is a full-service technology recruitment and staffing company based in South Florida. We humanize technical recruitment by identifying candidates' long-term career goals and assessing cultural fit when presenting opportunities. Our focus on long-term relationships helps ensure placements that last.

Job Overview: Our client is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead hands-on technical engagements from discovery through deployment, partnering directly with customers to design architectures, run proof-of-concepts, and deliver secure, production-ready implementations. This is a highly customer-facing role best suited for an infrastructure-minded engineer who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This position is remote with 10–20% travel for onsite customer work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own technical GTM execution for customer POCs and implementations—from requirements gathering through successful rollout.
  • Run pre-sales and post-sales technical deep dives, demos, and architecture discussions with customer engineering teams.
  • Design and troubleshoot integrations across customer environments (identity providers, security tooling, observability stacks, and infrastructure).
  • Build one-off solutions, custom configurations, and deployment patterns to meet enterprise requirements.
  • Serve as the technical expert during sales cycles—answering complex questions and guiding best-practice decisions.
  • Drive complex technical support and customer escalations to resolution, partnering with internal engineering as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong infrastructure background with hands-on experience in areas like authentication/identity (e.g., Okta, Entra), observability, and secure deployment configurations.
  • Proven ability to ship production software and own outcomes end-to-end (not just internal tooling).
  • Prior customer-facing technical experience (solutions architecture, technical implementation, or similar), with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and moving quickly in a high-growth environment; strong troubleshooting instincts.
  • Working knowledge (or strong interest) in AI primitives, agents, MCP, plugins, and tool integrations; ability to learn new systems fast.
  • Ability to travel 10–20% to support onsite customer engagements.
  • Preferred: experience with enterprise customers and security-minded system design; familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) and modern cloud platforms.
