Whitley Penn, a leading CPA and Consulting firm, is looking for a Forensic & Litigation Services (FLS) Associate to join our team. Our FLS department offers a full range of litigation support services, specializing in helping attorneys and their clients understand and resolve the complex financial issues related to marital property and divorce-related financial issues, as well as a wide range of business disputes.

Job Details:

  • Title: Associate
  • Classification: Full-time; Exempt
  • Department: Forensic & Litigation Services โ€“ Matrimonial & Business Disputes
  • Location: Fort Worth
  • Office Expectations/Hours: fully on-site position; general work schedule is Monday โ€“ Friday, 8 hours/day between 8am to 5pm with overtime, as needed.

How Will You Make an Impact?ย ย 

  • Assist with forensic accounting, litigation support and valuation engagements, primarily related to marital property and divorce-related financial issues, as well as other investigations and valuations for litigation-related purposes.
  • Organize, review, and summarize documents produced by clients.
  • Prepare document request lists.
  • Research relevant information including property records, entity filings, and industry data.
  • Schedule financial and/or tax return information.
  • Identify relevant entities and prepare organizational charts.
  • Assist in deposition, mediation and trial preparation strategies and preparation of exhibits.
  • Attempt to work through issues encountered in assignments by researching the issue at hand, identify solutions, and communicate the issue and the solution to the seniors, managers, senior managers or partners.
  • Ensure all the documents have been reviewed and the relevant facts are given to the expert witness or individual testifying.
  • Attend client meetings with partners and managers to determine scope of engagement and continued client expectations.
  • Serve as a โ€œBuddyโ€ to interns and assist them in assimilating into the department and firm.

How Will You Get Here?ย ย 

  • 1+ years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagement assignments.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting or finance. An advanced degree in a related field a plus.
  • A CPA license or working toward eligibility to sit for the CPA exam is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with team members, clients, attorneys, and referral sources both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in use of technology and accounting programs including MS Office.
  • Skills in ethics and compliance, and financial standards, models and tools.
  • Skills inย project management and project management.
  • Desire to manage and lead teams, and an interestย in continually learning and gaining knowledge.
