About Us
Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree-granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. MGA has five campuses-Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins, all located in central Georgia-and global outreach through its fully-online campus. Its enrollment of 8,400 students is largely comprised of students from most of Georgia's 159 counties. The University has six academic schools, including Georgia's flagship aviation program, that support its mission to educate and graduate inspired, lifelong learners whose scholarship and careers enhance the state.
Job Summary
The coordinator of personal training and group fitness is responsible for assessing member fitness levels, creating and implementing exercise plans for improving fitness levels as well as conducting and coordinating group fitness sessions primarily on the Cochran and Macon Campus.
Responsibilities
Programming (70%) -
Conduct fitness counseling, assessment, and create/implement fitness plans.
Provide recreation and wellness incentive programs and group fitness classes.
Offer a minimum of three group fitness classes on each campus per semester.
Offer a minimum of three fitness informational sessions through tabling or workshops per year.
Assist with the daily operations of the wellness center and staff management.
Hire, train, certify, and supervise student assistants to facilitate and implement exercise plans as well as lead group fitness activities.
Operations (20%) -
Maintain program budget and order proper equipment for personal training and group fitness activity
Develop marketing materials and plan for personal training and assessment for the program.
Track and record statistical data of programs and training sessions each month.
Other Duties (10%) -
Manage program website page and keep the page updated and informative.
Maintain active membership and attend professional development opportunities within ACSM, NASM, NSCA or related organization.
Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Director, or Director of Athletics and Wellness.
Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Jeanne Clery Act.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Required Experience
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the objectives and functions of the programs in the department to coordinate activities within the department, usually interpreted to require one to two years of related experience or internship/grad assistantship.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of best practices associated fitness assessment and personal training
Knowledge of current fitness trends and programs associated with group fitness activity
Knowledge of budget development and management principles.
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
