Make-A-Wish® Georgia has several internships that offer on-the-job training as well as a chance to impact the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions. We welcome current students to apply for one of these internship opportunities.
Internships are available during the Fall, Spring & Summer semesters. Internships are unpaid but are available for course credit (contingent upon university approval). We have openings in our Atlanta, GA office.
Deadline to apply for Fall 2015 Semester (August 17th-December 11th) is May 29, 2015 at 5:00 pm.
Deadline to apply for Spring 2016 Semester (January 4th-May 6th) is September 25, 2015 at 5:00 pm.
Job Description
Volunteer Services Internship
• Responsible for assisting the Volunteer Manager in all aspects of the Volunteer Program including but not limited to; recruiting and training volunteers, managing volunteer files, processing applications, and communicating with volunteers.
• Must be comfortable and confident communicating over the phone.
• Ideal for applicants pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Relations, or other related fields. All majors are, however welcome.
Finance Internship
• Responsible for assisting the Director of Finance with daily duties which include internal reporting, forecasting and analysis of ongoing budget trends, and assisting with data input related to accounts payable and receivable.
• Ideal for applicants pursuing a career in Accounting or Finance.
Development Internships
• Responsible for supporting fundraising staff in all aspects of revenue generation from fundraising event to cultivating individual and major donors.
• Assisting with design, copy writing and production of donor materials and ongoing correspondence.
• Conducting prospect research and analysis to support solicitation strategies.
• Assisting with the organization and tracking of donor and sponsor information.
• Daily maintenance of database records and donor profiles.
• Builds relationships with outside vendors; potential for in-kind solicitation.
• Ideal for candidates pursuing a degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration or related field.
Program Services Internship
• Responsible for assisting the Program Services team in all aspects of the mission delivery, including but not limited to; managing wish files, communicating with medical professionals, assisting with referral calls, and working with volunteers.
• Responsible for maintaining communication with the wish families.
• Ideal for applicants pursuing a degree in Family and Child Development, Human Development, Psychology, or related field.
Marketing/Communications Internship
• Responsible for assisting the Marketing/Communications team with the development and execution of Make-A-Wish internal and external communications, marketing and collateral materials and advertising/publicity campaigns.
• Writing sample is required along with resume and cover letter.
• Ideal for applicants pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants should possess strong written and oral communication skills, working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite which includes Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint, working knowledge of Raisers' Edge, and should demonstrate maturity and responsibility. Candidates bilingual in both Spanish and English are needed and encouraged to apply.
