What We're Seeking:

SWD Inc. in Addison, IL is seeking a Human Resources (HR) & Recruiting Intern for the Fall semester! This opportunity is ideal for current students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field who are interested in gaining hands-on HR and recruiting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working directly with the HR Manager, you'll gain hands-on experience in full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing candidates, interviewing, onboarding, and supporting hiring initiatives while developing a strong foundation in Human Resources.
This is a paid, on-site internship located in Addison, IL at $18.00 per hour. The internship will run approximately August through December, with flexible start and end dates based on your academic schedule. Interns can expect to work 25-35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling to accommodate classes and other commitments.
Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Support full-cycle recruiting activities, including sourcing candidates, reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, scheduling interviews, interviewing candidates, and communicating with applicants throughout the hiring process.
  • Conduct background checks and new hire onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Assist employees and applicants in both English and Spanish with HR-related questions.
  • Create and distribute employee communications through various platforms.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and company-wide events.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team and assist with HR process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish and English (highly preferred).
  • Friendly, professional, and comfortable interacting with employees and candidates daily.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong follow-through, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with an interest in Human Resources, recruiting, and the manufacturing industry.

About Us:

SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company began passivating stainless steel and in 1981 purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, SWD Inc. has over 250 employees and runs three shifts per day in its 250,000 sq. ft. facility just west of Chicago in Addison, Illinois.
