FaithLife Appalachia is a nonprofit development platform based in Pikeville, Kentucky, committed to spiritual renewal and long-term economic transformation in Central Appalachia. Responsibilities and Career Competencies:
  • Digital Content Creation: Design and schedule engaging social media content, including graphics, captions, and short-form video, to amplify the organization's mission (C, T).
  • Multimedia Storytelling: Capture high-quality photo and video content at events and outreach activities to document community impact (C, T).
  • Campaign Support: Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns and promotions for specific programs and revitalization events (CT, TW).
  • Graphic Design: Develop professional flyers, presentation slides, and other digital or print collateral that align with brand standards (P, T).
  • Institutional Outreach: Support email communications and website updates to keep stakeholders and community members informed (C, T).
  • Collaborative Narrative: Partner with team members to identify and share compelling stories of transformation and community growth (TW, CTR).
  • Impact Analytics: Track basic engagement metrics across platforms and report findings to FaithLife Appalachia leadership to refine outreach strategies (CT, C).
  • Operational Agility: Perform other duties as assigned to support the holistic needs of a growing nonprofit platform (CSD, P).

Qualifications:
  • Academic Standing: Current University of Pikeville student in good academic standing. Student should be eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • Field of Interest: Demonstrated interest in Marketing, Communications, Media, or related fields.
  • Communication Skills: Strong writing and creative communication abilities with an eye for branding and storytelling.
  • Technical Aptitude: Experience with social media platforms, design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe), or content creation is helpful but not required.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Community Engagement: A deep interest in community-based storytelling and place-based revitalization.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Comfort working both independently on creative tasks and collaboratively within a mission-driven team.

Additional Comments: Terms: Upon hire, the intern must register for the Summer II Internship course. To receive course credit, students will complete assignments concurrently with internship work. Students are required to work a total minimum of 80 hours and will eligible for the following credit hours: 80-119 hours of work + course completion = 2 credit hours; 120-159 hours of work + course completion = 3 credit hours; 160-199 hours of work + course completion = 4 credit hours; 200-239 hours of work + course completion = 5 credit hours; 240+ hours of work = 6 credit hours. Summer interns in this position cannot exceed 40 hours of work per week.
