About the Regional Sales Manager (Mixed Market) role:
As the Regional Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving market penetration and accelerating sales growth by proactively selling to both existing customers and new municipal accounts within a defined geographic territory. In this role, you will focus on the municipal sector by conducting in-person customer visits, building a strong sales pipeline, prospecting for new accounts, managing existing customer relationships, and pursuing new project opportunities.
You will develop strategic sales initiatives targeting our established customer base and engaging multiple decision-makers and influencers. You will also support the municipal water industry-including desalination, wastewater, and drinking water applications-and promote the company's portfolio of products, ranging from instrumentation and reagents to fully integrated solutions and services.
Working remotely from your home office, this highly autonomous role requires an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to develop and execute a collaborative business plan while managing your territory as if it were your own business.
📍 Location: Candidates must be located in the Rochester, Buffalo, or Syracuse area.
Territory: This role will cover the Upstate New York region, including Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo.
Travel: RSMs are typically on the road visiting customers from Tuesday through Thursday. Travel is expected at least three days per week, with some overnight stays expected throughout the month. Company-approved hotels are provided to ensure comfortable and safe accommodations.
💧 In this role, a typical day will look like:
  • Develops monthly sales territory and account plans to achieve assigned targets.
  • Executes planned activities and documents them in Hach CRM, Salesforce.com (SFDC).
  • Prepares and presents a monthly funnel review utilizing SFDC to demonstrate the quality of the funnel, activity plans, and command of the account base.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with engineering firms and other accounts that indirectly influence customer purchasing decisions.
  • Develops a network of customer and industry contacts within the territory to position Hach as a key member of the water management community.
  • Participates in sales activities, including customer site visits, telephone contacts, trade shows and seminars, product demonstrations/evaluations, customer seminars, and channel management.
  • Acts as a mentor for the growth and development of other RSMs.
  • Provides key field input in corporate programs, including market research, Kaizen events, and equipment beta testing.

💧 Are you qualified?
  • 5+ years of direct sales experience in analytical instrumentation. Prior experience in the water industry is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required. A degree in a science-related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent is a plus; a Master's degree is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience selling in industrial and municipal markets (including wastewater and drinking water).
  • B2B experience selling complex automation or process products and solutions, with municipal market experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft tools, along with strong computer and technology skills, is required.
  • Comfort with being on the road and in front of customers most days.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a Motor Vehicle Report that meets Hach Company standards.
  • Willingness to travel 50-70% within the assigned territory.

US ONLY:
The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Commission Pay.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
