Job description

WSP is currentlyinitiatinga search for aPOWERTesting and Energization (PTE) Early CareerField Services Technician for our project location in the states of Washington. Successful applicants will be involved in projects with our PTE Team and be a part of a growing organization thatsolvingproblems andsupportingclient needs in electrical testing and commissioning in utility substations, industrial and bulk electrical power systems.

Provides entry-level support for construction, maintenance, environmental sampling, and technical field operations. Performs routine tasks toassistfield staff in carrying out service activities across various work sites.Working under close supervision, the successful candidate willdevelopcoreproficienciesin equipment handling, safety practices, data collection, and documentation standards,as well asbuild foundational technical skills.This rolecontributes to environmental stewardship, quality assurance, and operational readiness by following established procedures and supporting experienced technicians in delivering field services.

Your Impact
  • Under the guidance of an experienced Field Services Engineer or Technician, the successful candidate willobserveandassistwith basic inspection and testing activities, as well asobserveandassistwithtroubleshooting activities, Work may be performed in low, medium, or high voltage systems.  
  • The candidate willassistwith routine field tasks such asusingtestinginstruments, supportingprotection and controls testing, and gainingexperience in the fundamentals of electrical system components and overall structure.  
  • Observe andlearnsite safety practices including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).  
  • Recognize and report unsafe conditions, malfunctioning equipment, or unclear instructions to supervisors.  
  • Maintain consistent attendance and communicationregardingassignments.  
  • Work cooperatively with crew members andmaintainprofessional behavior in the field.  
  • Develop basic understanding of how to navigate fieldwork safely and responsibly. 
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent  
  • Some experienceinelectrical testingor related job capacity.
  • Some experience ordemonstratedinterest in field service work, in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.  
  • Completion of electricalcircuitsanalysis series, or other courses with AC power system theory.  
  • Abilityto read and interpret construction drawings and specifications  
  • Willingness toparticipatein required safety and operational training sessions.  
  • The ideal candidatedemonstratesa willingness to learn,good communicationskills, and developingproblem solving abilities.  
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects,toolsor controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell  
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of environmental and weather conditions for extended durations.  
  • Effective self-leadership withtheability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, andcomply withcompany policies.  
  • Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet businessobjectives.  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks whilemaintainingaccuracy.  
  • Proventrack recordof upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.  
  • Willingness and physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds individually, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and the abilitytoadjust focus.  
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record  
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 80%)  
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-makingregardingcompany funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology  
    Completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection is preferred  
  • Enrollment in or completion of a vocational, trade, or technical training program.  
  • Prior electrical or construction internship experience  
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA is a plus

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $30.00-$55.00 per hour
