Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a self-motivated, dependable Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our firm in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, LA, who is dedicated to contributing to our success. This full-time position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills.  Arcadis' performance-based evaluations provide an opportunity for candidates to advance their career within the company.  

Field activities may include the following: 

  • Conduct soil, groundwater, air, and environmental media sampling in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Oversee field investigations and drilling operations, including monitoring well installation, soil borings, logging, and site characterization activities.
  • Implement and support remedial systems and technologies, including in-situ treatment methods and groundwater recovery system operation and maintenance.
  • Manage subcontractors, maintain detailed field documentation, and coordinate effectively with project teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Demonstrate independent problem-solving while serving as a professional client representative and adhering to Arcadis' strong health, safety, and environmental standards in industrial and hazardous site settings.

Office activities may include the following: 

  • Manage and evaluate environmental data, ensuring accurate compilation, analysis, and quality control of project information.
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, memoranda, figures, maps, and boring logs to support project deliverables.
  • Develop cost estimates and proposals to support project planning and business development activities.
  • Coordinate project schedules and communications with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors to meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Word and Excel while applying strong communication, organization, multitasking, and time management skills.

This position does require travel and fieldwork. During some periods, fieldwork may be up to 70-90% of your time, with up to 50% requiring hotel stays. Candidates must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods. Candidates must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of time, working alone at remote sites, etc.   Candidates must have the ability to routinely pass background checks and drug screenings (including hair testing) in accordance with client site-specific requirements. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. 

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Geology, Geosciences, or Environmental Science
  • 2 plus years of related work experience
  • Proficiency at using Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A current valid driver's license and clean driving record.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 HR / 8 HR training
  • Previous industry, consulting, or regulatory internship experience.
  • TWIC card
