Role Purpose:
The incumbent is to develop, implement and monitor the environmental program at Mark Anthony's Glendale, AZ, Brewery. He or she will work closely with the various brewery stakeholders as well as local, State and Federal agencies regarding the brewery's environmental impact.
Accountabilities & Impact:
  • Support the development, administration and implementation of environmental and safety and health programs in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 registrations, which include regulatory requirements regulated by the EPA, OSHA and USDOT.
  • Determine impact on site operations and provide support for compliance strategies and requirements.
  • Interact with federal, state, and local regulators as necessary as they relate to inquiries or compliance activities.
  • Will be responsible to assess and monitor site compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Works with plant personnel to ensure compliance. Conduct site regulatory compliance audits.
  • Perform site compliance sampling and submission to lab for analysis.
  • Responsible to prepare applicable regulatory/company deliverable reports.
  • Development of work plans for various types of site and field investigation activities. Management and implementation of site and field investigation protocols.
  • Regulatory agency submittals, including permit applications, monitoring reports, etc. and interface-liaison. Manage and update all environmental programs and permits for wastewater discharge, storm water, hazardous waste, SPCC, and other regulatory requirements as they pertain to the specific location.
  • Review and analyze internal Command Media documents as well as documentation issued by the federal EPA, DEP and USDOT.
  • Evaluate proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public and environmental impact.
  • Responsible to facilitate environmental incident prevention and investigation processes and prepare reports to appropriate agencies.
  • Direct the facility's waste minimization program. Monitor waste streams and waste products to ascertain ways to eliminate or minimize waste generation.
  • Will be responsible to monitor wastewater treatment system to ensure permit compliance and direct water conservation activities.
  • Participate in all environmental incident investigations.
  • Site assessment and remediation experience including brownfields, well installation and monitoring, test pits, and various types of subsurface investigation activities per ASTM, state and federal requirements.
  • Marketing and business development activities to include proposal preparation.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, memos, response to comments tables, and diagrams is required.
  • General understanding and experience with statistical analysis of environmental data using software such as ProUCL, Microsoft Excel, or R is preferred.
  • Experience reviewing and managing environmental data and databases using software such as Microsoft Access or R is preferred.
  • Experience with proposal writing and business development is preferred.
  • Ability to assist with cost estimating and obtaining bids from vendors and subcontractors is preferred.

Skills & Experiences Needed:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental engineering.
  • Candidate must have 3-5 years' Environmental Engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial work environment.
  • Must have previous on the job (internship and / or full-time employment) experience focusing on Environmental Health & Safety; Minimum of 1 year.
  • Professional ESH experience in a manufacturing, test, or industrial environment.
  • Experience in preparing environmental permit applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, and Environmental requirements, regulations and associated compliance programs.
  • ESH experience in subject areas such as industrial safety, material handling, NFPA Life Safety Code, lock-out-tag-out, and hazard recognition and other industrial safety programs.
  • Experience administering environmental compliance training.
  • Maintain a familiarity with all environmental media (i.e., air, water/wastewater, waste).
  • Ability to ensure regulatory compliance with minimal direct supervision. Site assessment, remediation, and water resources experience and knowledge of related and applicable federal and state regulatory statutes and legislation is required.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM), Safety Professional certification (CSP) or other ESH nationally recognized certifications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel, work in the field, work outdoors.

Working conditions:
  • The incumbent will be required to work inside as well as outside in all seasonal elements.
  • Must be capable of considerable walking and may be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be medically certified to wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Controlled exposure to chlorine, ammonia, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride, sodium bicarbonate, phosphoric and sulfuric acids, bio-solids, raw wastewater, biocides and other chemicals will occur.
