Job Overview:
LPL Financial is seeking a motivated and technology-driven Software Engineering intern to help build innovative solutions that support financial advisors and their clients. This role will work alongside experienced engineers and mentors, contributing to real-world projects while gaining hands-on experience with modern software development practices, cloud technologies, and AI-powered development tools. Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using technologies such as React, Angular, Java, Python, .NET, Node.js, and related frameworks.

  • Build and support APIs, backend services, databases, and cloud-based applications.

  • Leverage automation and AI-assisted development tools to improve software quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and business teams to deliver impactful solutions.

  • Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting activities.

Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), software engineering or a related field.

  • Available to work from of LPL Financials' primary office locations

  • Hands-on experience through coursework, internships, hackathons, or personal projects using at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript

Core Competencies:
  • Software Engineering Fundamentals - Understanding of software development, testing, debugging, databases, APIs, and secure coding practices.

  • Problem Solving & Collaboration - Ability to work effectively across teams and solve technical challenges in a structured manner.

  • Cloud & Modern Development Practices - Familiarity with cloud platforms, DevOps principles, and scalable application development.

Preferences:
  • Experience with modern development frameworks and technologies such as React, Angular, .NET, Node.js, or Spring Boot.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), CI/CD pipelines, Git, and RESTful APIs.

Summer Internship Schedule:
  • Full - time position for 10 weeks in the summer of 2027; Monday through Friday, working 40 hours a week during business operating hours.
