Job Description Summary

The Molding Technician I supports and executes daily injection molding operations by ensuring molding tools are properly maintained, set up, and ready for efficient production. This role is responsible for performing mold changes, maintaining machine readiness, and supporting process stability and product quality across assigned equipment. The technician works closely with production and maintenance teams to sustain continuous operation, address routine technical issues, and support multiple molding machines in a high-volume environment. While developing technical skills, this role contributes directly to production performance, equipment utilization, and adherence to safety and quality standards.


Job Description


Key Responsibilities

  • Dismantle, clean, assemble, and set up molding tools for production
  • Perform mold changes and prepare machines for production runs
  • Troubleshoot basic molding and equipment issues; escalate complex issues as needed
  • Monitor cycle times, injection intervals, and part quality
  • Support operators with process-related questions
  • Maintain mold cleanliness and readiness for production
  • Collaborate with production and mold maintenance teams to minimize downtime
  • Support production across multiple molding machines as directed, prioritizing tasks based on production needs
  • May perform or assist in end-to-end molding operator and changeover technician duties as needed to support production continuity and meet business demands
  • Provide basic training and guidance to operators, interns, and trainees
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
  • Apply Lean Continuous Improvement (LCI) principles in daily work
  • Support general production activities as needed
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for training as needed


Equipment & Technology Scope

Experience with foundational injection molding equipment and production platforms, including but not limited to:

  • Standard injection molding machines (25-ton to 150-ton presses)
  • High-volume production environments
  • Manual and semi-automated systems


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing experience (plastics preferred)
  • Technical certificate or coursework in plastics technology, manufacturing, or mechanical systems
  • Exposure to injection molding machine interfaces (e.g., Arburg, Engel, or similar)
  • Starting Hourly Rate $27.95


Core Competencies

  • Basic understanding of injection molding processes and parameters
  • Mechanical aptitude and safe tool handling
  • Ability to follow standard work and procedures
  • Basic troubleshooting and issue identification
  • Ability to manage tasks across multiple machines under supervision
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to work with metric units (e.g., millimeters, grams, degrees Celsius)
