Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Software Engineer - Embedded/Test Equipment - Level 3 to join our team in Chandler, AZ.
This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
In this role, you will lead the design, development, and integration of Real Time Computer In the Loop (RTCIL) and Hardware In the Loop (HWIL) test laboratories that validate flight software, GPU based scene generation, and sensor injection capabilities for the Glide Phase Interceptor program. This role blends embedded C/C++ development with high-performance GPU coding and 6-DoF real-time simulation to ensure mission-critical systems meet stringent performance and security requirements.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Your Role and Impact:
  • Supports test equipment hardware and software requirements planning, architecture development, detailed design, and integration/startup of real time computer and full hardware in loop test laboratories
  • Develops test equipment hardware and software architectures to support real time distorted scene injection into flight hardware, as part of test laboratory development.
  • Develops GPU software to predict and mimic flight condition scenarios in real time test environment
  • Ensures software standards are met.
  • Work in a collaborative multi discipline team environment
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 1 year of professional experience outside of internships, research, etc. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Software development experience in C, C++, C# and/or Java in Linux and/or Windows environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in design, integration and testing with real time computer in loop and hardware in loop test laboratories
  • Experience in developing interfaces to support weapon system integration efforts.
  • Familiarity with 6 degree of freedom simulation systems and integration of 6DoF simulation models into a real time environment for test as you fly scenarios
  • Experience IR scene injection into electronics for processing in real time embedded flight firmware/software,
  • GPU Development experience to present real time constrained scene generation
  • Experience working in an Agile framework and team environment. Ability to work with multi discipline team and a dynamic work environment.
  • Direct work with IR scene injection into embedded flight firmware for real-time processing.
  • Proven track record working in Agile teams and delivering incremental, test-driven value..

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
