Job description

Physical Therapist Assistant

Job Summary

Summary under direction, responsible to treat patients requiring physical therapy. Serves patients by reviewing physical therapist interpretations of patient evaluations and test results; interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; recommending options and courses of action to physical therapists; giving normal growth and development information; promoting wellness and health maintenance.

Essential Functions
  • Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on their responses and progress and provide results to physical therapist in person or through progress notes.
  • Fit patients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, or supportive devices, such as crutches as needed per site.
  • Instructs patients and their families in appropriate exercise program and in use of equipment.
  • Clean work area and check and store equipment after treatment.
  • Confer with physical therapy staff or others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, or coordinating treatment.
  • Document treatments and notes as needed.

Associate's Degree Physical Therapy Assistant preferred
