Job description

The Electronics Technician Maintenance II performs depot-level testing, troubleshooting, alignment, repair, overhaul, and maintenance of complex electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, circuit cards, cables, power supplies, and test adapters. Work is performed using government-furnished equipment, software, shop orders, drawings, schematics, procedures, and specifications.

The position isolates failures to the component level, completes authorized repairs, and verifies equipment performance using automated and manual test stations and bench-top test equipment. Responsibilities also include electronic cleaning, disassembly and rebuilding, preventive and corrective maintenance of test equipment, and support for calibration-status tracking and equipment movement.

This is an intermediate-level electronics position expected to independently perform complex work within approved procedures while consulting senior technicians, leads, engineers, or other qualified personnel when unusual failures or conditions exceed established repair guidance.

A sample of the work this position will perform includes:

  • Testing, aligning and troubleshooting Complex Electronics Testing and Troubleshooting
  • Performing depot repairs and rebuild activities on Electronic Components
  • Maintaining and inspecting Test-Sets (Preventive and Corrective Maintenance)
  • Calibration and Equipment-Control Support
  • Ensuring Quality, Safety, and Team Coordination

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Electronics technical school, military electronics training, apprenticeship, associate degree, or comparable formal training desired.

Experience

Required:

  • Eectronics process, soldering, ESD, equipment, and safety qualifications must be obtained and maintained.
  • Lockout/tagout training is required when assigned to hazardous-energy-control activities.

Desired:

  • Minimum of five years of experience using electronics test equipment.
  • Experience testing, aligning, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analog and digital electronic systems.
  • Experience performing component-level fault isolation and repair.
  • Experience with circuit cards, cable assemblies, power supplies, test adapters, and electronic subassemblies.
  • Experience operating automated and manual test stations and bench-top test equipment.
  • Experience reading schematics, drawings, procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Depot, military, manufacturing, or Government electronics-repair experience preferred.

License, Cert or Registration

Required:

  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the security-clearance and Government-access requirements of the position.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the personnel security eligibility required for assigned work, up to a DoD Secret clearance, complete and maintain all medical and physical certifications required if duties assigned include workplace exposures.
  • A clean and unencumbered driver’s license may be required for equipment movement or work between supported locations.

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities

  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, electronic components, circuits, power supplies, and test principles.
  • Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal-generation equipment, automated test systems, and related diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and repair documentation.
  • Skill in component-level troubleshooting, soldering, desoldering, cable repair, and connector assembly.
  • Ability to recognize when a failure requires senior technical or engineering support.
  • Strong attention to detail in testing, repair, configuration control, and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently within approved procedures and as part of an integrated technical team.
