This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Supplemental Instructor - Continuing Healthcare Education who will instruct courses in healthcare areas including but are not limited to Basic Life Support (CPR), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), EKG/Telemetry Monitor Tech, Massage Therapy, Phlebotomy and Phlebotomy Peer Tutor.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Associate Degree
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Six (6) months or more of documented experience, licenses, certifications, or training related to the topic of instruction.
  • CNA Instructor: Current unencumbered LVN or RN license in the state of Texas in addition to one (1) year of experience in providing skilled nursing care in a long-term care facility/setting for clinical.
  • Massage Therapy Instructor: Current massage therapy instructor license in the state of Texas.
  • CPR Instructor: Current provider card for American Heart Association Basic Life Support or Heartsaver First Aid

Preferred: Experience in supervising adults and/or nurse aides in the clinical and/or the educational setting.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor, assist and evaluate students that are in a clinical setting.
  • Develop curriculum and supplemental learning materials.
  • Prepare students to pass certification exams.
  • Attend briefings on clinical procedures and general program policies.
  • Complete administrative paperwork.
  • Perform teaching activities such as classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
  • Plan, develop and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
