The Yield Management (YM) team supports all Ford Blue, Model e, and Ford Pro product lines and tackles the ~5 highest priority strategic and profit projects each quarter. The team works in "Value Sprints" with a dedicated team focused against a specific mandate for a dedicated period of time. The team applies problem-solving framework and leverages advanced analytics to derive insights and deliver tangible recommendations to create value for Ford. Yield Management's project portfolio aims to deliver a balance of:
  • Near term vehicle line specific profit improvement or risk mitigation actions
  • New or expanded enterprise capabilities
  • Long term portfolio optimizations

This Yield Management position operates cross-functionally across Marketing & Sales, Brand, Product Marketing, General Management, GDI&A, Finance, & Ford Credit. Data Scientists come from a range of different backgrounds and work on specific "sprints" typically for 6-8 weeks.

This role is at the intersection of strategy, operations, and analytics, and is tasked with creating change and maximizing profits in the Ford+ plan. The immediate working team is highly collaborative and fast-paced. This is a high-exposure role with ongoing interaction with leadership across Ford Blue, Model e, and Ford Pro.
As a Data Scientist, you will perform analysis and modeling as part of Yield Management Scope: Profit optimization & decision analysis, vehicle line demand estimation, price sensitivity analysis, counter-factual modeling, and hypothesis testing.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
In sprints, Data Scientists are responsible for:
  • Accessing and analyzing data to develop solutions, including leveraging advanced analytics tools and building ad-hoc data models
  • Applying structured problem-solving mindset to sprints
  • Considering enterprise-wide impact and sensitivity of sprint recommendations
  • Communicating analysis insights and implications of sprint recommendations
  • Apply and integrate latest analytical tools developed by Yield Management Advanced Analytics modeling team
  • Assist in preparing presentations and reports for management and business customers

Additionally, Data Scientists support:
  • Establishing the sprint mandate and problem statement with key stakeholders
  • Leading analysis and developing insights and implications of decisions
  • Delivering clear and actionable recommendations

Qualifications
You'll have...
  • Bachelors degree Computer Science, Economics, Analytics, Business, Strategy, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Computer Science, Economics, Analytics, Business, Strategy, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of various modeling methodologies, including economics, econometrics, statistics, data mining; be able to explain to a non-technical audience the results of your work
  • 3+ years of experience working in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • 3+ years in python and Database languages such as SQL

Even better, you may have...
  • MBA or PhD degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science in an appropriate field of study
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and programming/statistical software utilizing large datasets
  • Knowledge of Marketing & Sales, including exposure to some combination of go-to-market strategy, brand marketing, field ops, sales, variable marketing, pricing, allocation, production, or supply chain
  • Fast learning, hands on, aspirational and curious in technical excellence and innovation; have a lifetime learning attitude
  • Be able to make reasonable judgment and conclusion with limited information and resources; be able to quickly convert a real business requirement into a solvable modeling problem, sort out relevant information, and judge the solution against business reality
  • Executive communication experience (written and verbal)

This position is a salary grades 5-8 and ranges from $63,480-162,120.
