Internship Early Stage Startup information

What is an internship at an early stage startup?

Internships at early stage startups are short-term work experiences where students or recent graduates work with small, rapidly growing companies that are in the initial phases of development. These internships often provide hands-on opportunities to contribute directly to important projects, as startups usually have small teams and limited resources. Interns can gain experience in various roles, ranging from marketing and product development to engineering and business operations. The fast-paced environment encourages learning, creativity, and adaptability. While compensation and structure may vary, the experience is valuable for building skills and networking in the startup ecosystem.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an intern at an early stage startup?

To thrive as an intern at an early-stage startup, you need a strong foundation in your field of study, adaptability, and a proactive learning attitude, typically supported by current enrollment in a relevant degree program. Familiarity with productivity tools like Google Workspace, project management platforms such as Trello or Asana, and sometimes basic coding or data analysis skills are often advantageous. Outstanding communication, initiative, and the ability to work independently make an intern stand out in this fast-moving environment. These skills are vital because early-stage startups require team members who can quickly adapt, take ownership, and contribute meaningfully to dynamic projects with minimal supervision.

What unique learning opportunities can I expect from an internship at an early stage startup?

Interning at an early stage startup offers a dynamic environment where you'll likely wear multiple hats and take on responsibilities beyond a traditional internship. You'll have the chance to work closely with founders and small teams, gaining hands-on experience in various areas such as product development, marketing, and business operations. This exposure accelerates your learning curve and allows you to make a tangible impact, while also developing problem-solving skills and adaptability. Additionally, the fast-paced nature of startups often means you'll receive direct feedback and mentorship, helping you grow professionally and expand your network.

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner who is licensed in Virginia to join our virtual care team. This is a remote, patient-facing clinical role; delivering care to Local Infusion patients and partnering closely with physicians and the broader care team to increase patient access and reduce time to treatment.

Job Description
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients with neurological conditions, memory disorders, and/or dementia via telehealth

  • Partner with our neurologist(s) and broader care team to ensure continuity of care

  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and disease progression

  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EMR consistent with regulatory requirements

Key Accountabilities

  • 2+ years of clinical experience in neurology, memory care, and/or dementia care settings

  • Strong clinical judgement and clinical documentation skills

  • Comfortable managing a full patient panel independently with physician collaboration

  • Excellent communication skills with patients facing cognitive decline and their caregivers

The Local Infusion Way

Local Infusion is a respectful, upbeat, and remote-first team united by our mission of shaping the way specialty infusion care is delivered. We are highly ambitious, but understand that in order to do a great job, we have to take care of ourselves; we expect that you will have time and energy devoted to your families, friends and hobbies.

As part of our team, full-time employees get:

  • Potential for performance bonuses

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance through our employer plan

  • Short and long-term disability coverage

  • 401(k) โ€” as an early stage startup, and we match!

  • 15 Days PTO โ€” and we want you to take it!

  • Competitive paid parental leave and flexible return to work policy.

  • We invest in your career. Our company is growing quickly, and we'll give you the opportunity to do the same. You'll have access to a number of professional development opportunities so that you can keep up with the company's evolving needs and grow your career along the way.

We donโ€™t discriminateโ€”Local Infusion is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Employer. We fundamentally believe that a more diverse and inclusive team leads to a stronger company more able to achieve our vision.
