Job description

About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Android Software Engineer to join our Commerce Engineering team. This role will be hybrid based in Palo Alto, CA.ย

In Commerce, our mission is to get Wing's drone delivery into the hands of partners and customers. Our team builds Applications, APIs and tools, enabling Wing drone delivery for businesses. We build safe, reliable, and scalable systems, with a detail oriented mindset, delivering a customer first experience.

This position seeks highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working in a highly dynamic and collaborative team environment. The successful candidate is able toย demonstrate full project ownership, from strong frontend software design to fast paced implementation following industry best practices. We're looking for people who are intrinsically driven to collaborate on hard problems, drive simple solutions, and take pride in their work .

What You'll Do:

  • Build what's next. You'll take our newest drone technology out of the lab and turn it into real, functional features that our partners and customers rely on.
  • Create interfaces people love to use. The goal is to build user interfaces that are complex under the hood but feel simple and intuitive. You'll work with the whole engineering team on everything from the front-end design to the backend RPCs and async pipelines that make it all work.
  • Own features from concept to launch. You'll be a key player in the entire development process, working with product managers to design and build new features and get them into the world quickly.
  • Be a go-to problem solver. When something critical breaks, you'll be one of the engineers we trust to dig into the code, find the root of the problem, and get things working again.
  • Help us build a better team. We believe that a great team is built on support and a drive for quality. You'll be a part of that by sharing your knowledge, participating in thoughtful code reviews, and helping us improve how we work together as we grow.

What You'll Need:ย

  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing in Android.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and experience working in a collaborative team.
  • Ability to identify challenging problems and potential solutions with guidance from a mentor, and work toward them with a high degree of independence.
