Job Description

Synthetic DNA Process Development Scientist Include but are not Limited to the Following:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Organic Chemist with expertise in oligonucleotide synthesis and purification to support process development and manufacturing. This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and scaling chemical processes for high-throughput and high-quality oligonucleotide production.

  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical synthesis processes for nucleotides and oligonucleotides
  • Process development and scale-up from R&D to manufacturing
  • Develop and improve oligonucleotide purification processes (e.g., HPLC, ion-exchange, desalting)
  • Troubleshoot synthesis and purification challenges to improve yield and purity
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, QC, and engineering for process transfer
  • Evaluate new chemistries and technologies
  • Author SOPs, batch records, and technical reports
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems
  • Mentor lab technicians
Qualifications

Basic Minimum Education Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry or related field (required)

Basic Minimum Work Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in chemical synthesis
  • Hands-on experience with solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis
  • Hands-on experience in oligonucleotide purification process development
  • Strong analytical skills (HPLC, LC-MS)
  • Experience scaling processes to manufacturing
  • Experience in GMP or regulated environments, preferred
  • Familiarity with automated DNA/RNA synthesizers, strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of modified nucleotides, strongly preferred
  • Experience in high-throughput oligo production, strongly preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Position is full-time working Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, with overtime and weekend work as needed.  Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Louisville, KY are encouraged to apply.
