The AI Systems & Process Engineer is a highly collaborative role responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying internal AI-enabled software applications and tools that support organizational transformation. This role focuses on business process re-engineering efforts and translating process and business requirements into scalable, production-ready applications. The position works closely with Process Excellence teams, End Users, SMEs, IT, and junior developers to rapidly build, validate, and deploy solutions that improve operational efficiency, enable data-driven decision-making, and support scalable growth.  Successful candidates will prioritize collaboration, speed, business value and customer impact, balancing concerns around security, scalability, and extensibility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Participate in and lead business process re-engineering efforts using systems engineering and lean practices, including kaizen, continuous improvement cycles, risk management, process mapping and cross-domain functional architecture design.
  • Design, develop, and implement AI-enabled applications and tools based on defined requirements - collaborating heavily with Process Excellence, SME, End User, and IT teams.
  • Lead rapid development cycles and guide junior developers and interns in building applications using AI-assisted coding tools.
  • Evaluate and implement AI development tools, frameworks, and workflows to improve speed and quality of development.  Manage development standards including version control, testing and deployment approaches, and documentation practices.
  • Define system architectures including data models, APIs, front-end/back-end structures, and AI/LLM integrations.  Serve as primary interface to IT for our process re-engineering and solutions-focused team.

After 3 months you will:

Participate in process re-engineering efforts, and collaboratively develop AI applications to drive the business forward.

After 6 months you will:

Lead broader system redesign efforts


Minimum Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelorโ€™s degree in a technical field + 6 years experience minimum. Strong experience building full-stack applications, APIs, and AI-enabled solutions for enterprise business systems.

COMPUTER SKILLS

In addition to familiarity with Microsoft Office software programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, ability with the following computer skills:
โ€ข    Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern development frameworks.  
โ€ข    Familiarity with rapid development using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, Codex, GitHub Copilot, similar tools).
โ€ข    Experience integrating AI/ML models into applications.  
โ€ข    Strong debugging, testing, and code optimization skills.  
โ€ข    Strong understanding of data models, system integration, and application workflows. 
โ€ข    Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.  
โ€ข    Familiarity with system integration across enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, data systems, etc.). 
โ€ข    Knowledge of API security, authentication (OAuth, tokens), and data flows.  
โ€ข    Knowledge of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).
โ€ข    Experience with version control systems (Git-based workflows). 
โ€ข    Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.  
โ€ข    Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).  Experience deploying and maintaining production applications.  
โ€ข    Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and validation practices.   
โ€ข    Knowledge of application security principles and best practices.  
โ€ข    Understanding of data governance, risk, and compliance considerations.  Experience documenting systems and maintaining development standards

This role may involve working in a controlled cleanroom environment, general office setting, or specific manufacturing areas. Conditions may include:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, both indoors (heated/air-conditioned spaces) and outdoors
  • Noise levels range from quiet to loud, depending on the work area
  • Specific vision abilities, including near vision, visual acuity, and color discrimination

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and may include:

  • Respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and full protective clothing
  • Compliance with cleanroom gowning protocols (e.g., removal of all jewelry, including piercings)
  • Prohibition of cosmetics, fragrances (perfume, aftershave), and nail products, including polish, artificial nails, or extensions

As a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing site, radiation may be present in the laboratory and production areas. Employees in this role may be required to:

  • Follow strict radiation safety procedures
  • Participate in dosimetry monitoring and bioassay testing as part of the company protocol
  • Inform leadership of any health conditions that may affect product integrity, by cleanroom standards
