Job description

Field Robotics Engineer

As a Field Robotics Engineer, you will support users of a dual-arm robotics research platform used by AI labs, universities, and advanced robotics teams. Your work will focus on helping customers successfully set up and operate their systems while you build strong hands-on experience in ROS2, Linux, Docker, and robotics software workflows.

What You'll Do

  • Help onboard new robotics platform users (universities, research labs, AI teams)
  • Assist with installation, setup, and initial system configuration
  • Provide technical support under guidance from senior engineers
  • Troubleshoot basic issues in ROS2, Linux environments, and Docker workflows
  • Help maintain and improve documentation, setup guides, and example projects
  • Support simulation and testing workflows (with mentorship)
  • Work with senior engineers to collect and communicate customer feedback
  • Participate in robotics workshops, demos, and conferences (ICRA, RSS, CoRL, etc.)
  • Travel ~30–40% with structured support and planning

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (or near completion) in: Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Exposure to ROS or ROS2 through coursework, capstone projects, internships, or research
  • Basic experience working in Linux (Ubuntu) environments
  • Familiarity with Python and/or C++
  • Exposure to Git/GitHub in academic or team projects
  • Basic understanding of robotics concepts:
    • Coordinate frames and transforms
    • Intro kinematics concepts
    • Sensors and actuators (high-level understanding is fine)
  • Willingness and excitement to learn robotics systems in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly

The role offers a fast learning curve, close mentorship from experienced engineers, and meaningful ownership of real customer-facing technical problems. It's also structured for growth, with a clear path from junior engineer to more senior technical roles as you build depth in robotics systems and applied AI.
