Job description

Sales and Marketing Insights Internship

Pay: $25/hr

Position Duration: May 2027 – July 2027

Position Location: Arden Hills, MN

Step into the dynamic world of Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) and represent some of America’s leading dairy brands. Develop valuable skills through structured rotations in Sales and Insights & Analytics, where you’ll apply the 4 P’s of Marketing (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) through analyzing data to solve real-world business challenges.

What will I learn? Gain exposure to Sales, Marketing, Insights and Analytics, and cross-functional partners to understand how a CPG company turns data, retailer needs, and consumer behavior into growth plans. You’ll learn the Retail and Foodservice business across channels, formats, customers, competitors, and shoppers or patrons while building category management, analytical storytelling, presentation, and collaboration skills in a team environment, including working closely with past interns.

What are my rotations as an intern?

Sales Rotation: Support key customers like Target, Kroger, Walmart, Publix, Stop & Shop, Sysco, and more.

Project examples: Analyze a customer’s product assortment to present an opportunity for increased distribution. Create a presentation for a buyer with a promotion strategy recommendation.

Insights Rotation: Support the Research, Insights, and Analytics team by leveraging data and insights to grow the business.

Project examples: Learn category management techniques, data visualization, and data analysis skills, create a data-driven selling story to support new item innovation, analyze promotion and pricing to provide retailer recommendations, utilize market research in the restaurant industry to identify opportunities for innovation.

Enterprise Engagement

You will be part of an enterprise-wide internship cohort, with opportunities to network across business units, and additional training and development focused on early talent. You can also get involved with our ERGs which include Women Leadership Network, African Ancestry, Asian Affinity, LOL Amigos, Pride Alliance, and many more.

What is the next step after the internship?

After the internship, strong performers may have the opportunity to join Land O’Lakes full-time as a Dairy Foods Analyst supporting Sales on the Research, Insights and Analytics team. In this role, you’ll continue building analytical thinking, storytelling, and cross-functional partnership skills while gaining exposure to future career paths through the Land O’Lakes Mentor Program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior, graduating in May 2028 or December 2027

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Analytics, Sales, Business, or a related field

  • Interest in a career in Sales, Category Management or Research & Insights

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, basic formulas, and charting

  • Exposure to data analysis, market research, or storytelling with data

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective planning, organization, and time management

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a sales, retail, or foodservice environment

  • Previous internship in a related field

  • Involvement in student organizations or community leadership roles

  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as Power BI or Tableau

  • Experience with retailer or syndicated data (Circana or Nielsen)

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across teams
