What We Need:

We are looking for a Plastics Engineer to join McCLARIN Composites.


Are you:

  • Someone who has a thorough understanding of the properties of different plastics and materials as well as polymer chemistry and thermoplastic processing?
  • Someone who is imaginative and creative to solve problems?
  • Someone who has strong communication skills and able to work well with others?

As the Plastics Engineer, you will lead process development and improvements focusing on safety, quality, delivery and cost for a leading supplier in the rail, construction, and heavy truck industries.


A Day in the Life of:

  • Develop and document process, tooling, and new product development for thermoformed products.
  • Optimize productivity, reduce cycle time, improve quality, reduce scrap, and reduce operating costs through continual process improvement.
  • Initiate and assist with capital improvement projects aimed at improving plant capabilities through new equipment purchase and/or facility modification.
  • Develop and monitor training plans to ensure personnel are versed in new process requirements.


Requirements:

What Makes You Qualified:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar engineering field
  • Minimum of 5 years direct manufacturing experience
  • Solidworks and AutoCad experience a plus
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen or other “Lean” tools
  • Analytical skills for troubleshooting

Must Haves:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • General knowledge or experience with the following processes:
    • Thermoforming
    • Reaction Injection Molding - RIM
    • Compression Molding – SMC
    • Material Testing
    • Assembly
    • Bonding
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shop prints and drawings.
  • Ability to interface with production and address their needs.
