Overview

As Senior Counsel, Bank Regulatory Legal, you will serve as a strategic advisor to Deutsche Bank AG's (the "Bank's") businesses and infrastructure functions on bank regulatory matters arising from the Bank's Americas and global activities. This role requires a pragmatic, experienced lawyer who can deliver clear, commercially practical advice in a specialized practice area within a large, complex global banking organization.

Deutsche Bank is a leading global banking organization headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, with a substantial and strategically important U.S. presence that includes its New York Branch, Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas, and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. The Bank's U.S. activities are subject to extensive oversight by the Federal Reserve and the New York State Department of Financial Services, among other key regulators The Bank Regulatory Legal team provides strategic legal advice on U.S. bank regulatory matters affecting the Firm's business activities in the United States and its U.S. intermediate holding company structure. What You'll Do

  • Advise business and infrastructure functions on the permissibility of activities, transactions, investments, new business initiatives, divestitures, reorganizations, and products and services affecting the Americas platform under applicable laws and regulations, including New York Banking Law, the National Bank Act, the Federal Reserve Act, and the Bank Holding Company Act

  • Prepare, review, and advise on regulatory applications, notices, and other submissions and communications relating to the Bank's activities and strategic initiatives

  • Advise internal stakeholders on bank regulatory matters, including regulatory developments that affect the Bank's Americas platform

  • Report to the Head of Bank Regulatory Legal and collaborate closely with business line legal teams

How You'll Lead

  • Advise Legal senior management in the Americas on strategic and tactical responses to regulatory expectations

  • Partner with regional business and infrastructure leaders on significant bank regulatory matters

  • Support regulatory engagement, examinations, and supervisory matters in coordination with Regulatory Management Group

Skills You'll Need

  • Extensive experience advising on U.S. bank regulatory law, including the Bank Holding Company Act, the Federal Reserve Act, the Dodd-Frank Act, New York State Banking Law, and the implementing regulations thereunder, including Regulations K, O, W, Y, and YY as well as supervisory expectations

  • A proven track record of broad, deep experience engaging with regulatory authorities on applications, notices, resolution plan submissions, supervisory interactions, U.S. bank examinations, and related matters, including enforcement matters

  • Experience working with Finance, including Treasury and Risk Management, on bank regulatory legal issues, including strategic internal reorganizations, acquisitions, and legal entity structure and governance requirements

  • Experience with, and a strong understanding of, the Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Private Bank, and Wealth Management lines of business, including advising on the permissibility of activities and Regulation W issues

  • Knowledge of U.S. regulatory reporting requirements, resolution planning requirements, and capital rules along with strong analytical and organizational skills, sound judgment, clear written and verbal communication skills, and bar admission in good standing

  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in New York City or Jacksonville, Florida, in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York and Washington DC is $170,000 to $308,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
