What You'll Do:
Deliver High-Quality Veterinary Care
  • Provide thorough, compassionate medical, surgical, and preventative care to pets.
  • Ensure an exceptional patient and client experience at every touchpoint.
  • Maintain accurate, timely medical records.
  • Deliver against defined individual performance targets and key metrics.
  • Actively support the growth and development of our paraprofessional team with a learning-focused culture.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing complex surgical procedures and mastered the ability to deliver care for complicated medical cases.
  • Work closely with Lead Veterinarian and Regional Medical Director to regularly review performance metrics and support the achievement of the hospital's operational and financial goals.

  • Collaborate with and delegate veterinary team members to ensure efficient, cohesive, team-based care.

  • May serve as the designated veterinarian responsible for controlled substance accountability, regulatory compliance, and related accounts within the practice.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate controlled substance records and overseeing the compliant ordering, storage, inventory management, reconciliation, and disposal of controlled substances in accordance with all applicable policies and regulations.

What you'll need:
  • DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college (or ECFVG/PAVE equivalent).
  • Active veterinary license, USDA license, and DEA registration in good standing (or ability to obtain in the practicing state).
  • 5+ years' experience in practice experience of general medicine and surgery; residency or internship trained
  • Comfortable performing the following surgeries: cystotomy, abdominal explore, pyometra, gastrotomy, enterotomy, and splenectomy.
  • An active veterinary license must be in good standing.
  • Strong practice skills with a commitment to high-quality, evidence-based medicine and patient care.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, team members, and peers.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for building relationships with clients and providing education on preventative care and treatment plans.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Interest in mentorship, continuous learning, and contributing to the development of veterinary teammates.
  • Professional, compassionate, and respectful demeanor that aligns with Chewy Vet Care's mission and values.

Physical job requirements:
  • Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently lift up to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
  • Rarely lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift.
  • Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.

  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.
