Role Overview
The New York Life Investments Management (NYLIM) AI & Data Science Summer Internship Program is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate seniors and master's students interested in AI, data science, technology, and business intelligence.
This 10-week paid internship begins in June 2027 and is based in our New York City office. Throughout the summer, interns will participate in business overviews, leadership presentations, networking opportunities, professional development workshops, and collaborative intern programming while gaining firsthand exposure to the asset management industry.
What You'll Do
Undergraduate AI & Data Science Track
  • Collect, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Build dashboards and visualizations that communicate meaningful business insights.
  • Support machine learning projects from data preparation through model evaluation.
  • Assist in developing proof-of-concept AI applications supporting investments, marketing, distribution, and client service.
  • Research and evaluate emerging AI tools and technologies.
  • Present findings to technical and business stakeholders.

Master's AI & Data Science Track
  • Design and build AI-powered applications that solve real business challenges.
  • Develop intelligent tools using enterprise AI platforms and cloud technologies.
  • Explore large language models (LLMs) and Generative AI applications.
  • Integrate AI solutions into business workflows.
  • Prototype quick-win solutions that improve operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and business partners to deliver production-ready solutions.

Required Qualifications
Undergraduate Track
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience with Python or another programming language.
  • Strong understanding of statistics and data analysis.

Master's Track
  • Currently pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Experience developing AI or machine learning applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks.

High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time early career opportunities within New York Life Investments based on business needs and individual performance.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and interviews will begin no later than October.

Salary Range: $30 - $40 / hour

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
