Job description

We are offering a $5000 sign on bonus for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Des Moines, IA. 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Completing repair activities on generators or components 
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

Must provide own basic hand tools.

On-Call rotation for emergency call outs on nights and weekends.

Out of state travel for training.

Occasional mandatory OT and weekend work.

Basic knowledge of engine components.

Basic knowledge of electricity.

Preferred experience with diesel mechanics or power generation.

-A current valid license is required for this role
-This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
-This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
-3 years driving experience
-This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision - hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
  • Primarily engaged in preventative maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics on generators.
  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.

Compensation and Benefits Base:Salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred), Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution, Current relevant electrical certification, Locally valid driving permit, this position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:Basic level field service work experience, Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products, High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience, Customer service experience
