Reporting to the Program Manager, the Jr. Configuration Management Specialist supports hardware production, configuration control, logistics coordination, data reconciliation, reporting, and process improvement activities. This position supports Government standardized quality assurance processes and coordination across hardware, production, and logistics teams for the Digital Engineering (D) Department, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division (PHD) on the NSWC PHD CESS contract. This position is located in Port Hueneme, CA.


  • Be familiar with and execute projects to strengthen process Improvement and Engineering Compliance.
  • Document work in accordance with Government standardized Quality Assurance (QA) processes.
  • Identify, document, and report potential production and process improvements to the D35 Branch Manager.
  • Review engineering change data to ensure compliance with configuration management procedures, identify unauthorized deviations, and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Perform configuration management of hardware inventory, documentation, product releases, and software.
  • Maintain the “As-Shipped” configuration by tracking part numbers, serial numbers, and unique identifiers for TTWCS and TMPC hardware.
  • Generate and track shipping and requisition documents, including DD Form 1149.
  • Assist with procurement and material tracking, including IDIQ, SAP, P-card, and MILSTRIP actions.
  • Schedule tool calibrations and digitize/index physical documentation.
  • Use intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, along with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, to perform data reconciliation and compile status reports.
  • Coordinate across hardware, production, and logistics teams.
  • Maintain technical binders and applicable trackers.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Participate in recurring status meetings, lead and coordinate process improvements, and perform other assigned duties in support of mission requirements.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • At least one (1) year of professional or internship experience supporting inventory control, documentation tracking, logistics coordination, material tracking, data reconciliation, or status reporting activities.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Travel Required ~10% travel required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain accurate trackers, technical binders, shipping/requisition documentation, configuration data, and status reports.
  • Ability to coordinate across hardware, production, logistics, and management stakeholders.
  • Experience with Bills of Materials (BOM), configuration management procedures, hardware inventory records, or “As-Shipped” configuration tracking.
  • Experience generating or tracking DD Form 1149, procurement/material tracking actions, IDIQ, SAP, P-card, or MILSTRIP documentation.
  • Experience with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data reconciliation, and status reporting.
  • Experience supporting process improvement activities in a hardware, production, logistics, or Government support environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
