Job description

The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking CADD Technician Interns to join our Substation Department for Summer 2027. This internship offers a unique opportunity for a detail-oriented and motivated individual to build drafting skills, gain real-world experience, and support project success through the development of high-quality construction drawings. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers and designers in a collaborative environment focused on delivering impactful solutions in the utility and power sectors. 

What You'll Do

  • Support assigned engineering teams by providing technical drafting assistance for electrical substation projects
  • Assist in the development of construction drawings for substation protection, control, and physical design
  • Use AutoCAD to prepare plan sets, diagrams, and design documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers and CAD technicians to ensure quality and consistency in drawing packages
  • Participate in the application of company standards and client requirements to project deliverables
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical drawings, layouts, and design specifications
  • Contribute to a team-oriented workflow and help meet project deadlines

What We Expect from You

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a two-year technical degree program in Drafting, CAD Technology/ Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; knowledge of MicroStation or Revit is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with redline/greenline drafting workflows is a plus 
  • Knowledge or interest in electrical protection and control systems, and/or substation physical design is beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Must be available to work full-time during Summer 2027 at one of our office locations 
  • Potential to continue internship through the school year based on performance and business needs
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $20-22/hr. *
