Job description

Student candidates must declare a major in either biology, chemistry, or health care.
 

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting faculty in performing research on specified projects.
     
  • Willingness to learn protocols and techniques required by the faculty.
  • Working alongside or under the supervision of faculty to solve research questions using the scie4ntific method.
     

Supporting the FINS Department:

  • Supporting any technological integration.
     
  • Experience or interest in promoting research activities via social media and marketing research projects.
     

Management of Research Data and Collection:

  • Organizing data materials in an organized manner using a notebook or log.
     
  • Meeting with faculty mentor and other students on a regular basis (one/twice monthly) to discuss research results and recommended avenues to take.
     
  • Preparing solutions, etc., as part of inventory taking process.
     
  • Maintaining a workspace free of clutter and unnecessary debris.
     

Skills Required:

  • Be curious about research project.
     
  • Read and ask questions of published rese4arch similar to project assigned.
     
  • Enthusiastic to learn new materials/protocols.
     
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
     
  • Ability to put together a presentation on research findings and present at a formal meeting.
     

Academic Standing:

  • All interested students must be in good academic standing in their major, with a 3.00 or above GPA.
     
  • Develop skills in strategic planning, time management, and academic success within an educational environment.
     
  • Enhance professional communication, collaboration, and networking capabilities through interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
     
  • Gain practical experience in managing academic events, student engagement programs, and community outreach initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to handle information of a sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
     
  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
     
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
     
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
     

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate (Junior/Senior level) enrolled in AI, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Management Information Systems or related fields.
     
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
     
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.
     
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.
