Job description

Job Title:Summer 2027 Intern - Strategic Project Continuous ImprovementSummary:This internship will support strategic process improvement and operational excellence initiatives across the organization. Working closely with the Global Continuous Improvement team, this role will contribute to projects focused on process optimization, data analysis, problem solving, and the application of digital and AI-enabled solutions to improve business performance.
The intern will gain exposure to Lean Six Sigma methodologies, cross-functional collaboration, and business analytics while supporting initiatives that drive measurable value for the organization. Success in this role will be demonstrated through the ability to analyze data, identify improvement opportunities, contribute to project deliverables, and effectively communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
Students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics will be well-positioned to excel in this role.Responsibilities Include:
  • Support Continuous Improvement projects through data collection, analysis, action item tracking, and reporting.

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies, including process mapping, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement problem solving techniques.

  • Assist with the development of dashboards, reports, and visualizations using business intelligence tools such as Power BI.

  • Explore opportunities to leverage AI and Copilot technologies to automate routine tasks, improve workflows, and enhance productivity.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation activities.

  • Analyze business data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to project teams and leadership as appropriate.

  • Support operational excellence initiatives that improve efficiency, quality, customer experience, or business performance.

  • May have the opportunity to lead a small improvement project based on business needs and demonstrated performance.

Qualifications:

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of junior year or currently pursuing a senior undergraduate degree or graduate degree.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to work with and interpret data to support business decisions.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with guidance.

  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn new tools and methodologies.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, Minitab, or similar analytical tools.

  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or other generative AI technologies.

  • Exposure to Lean, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, or Six Sigma concepts. Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP.

Program Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.

  • The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.

Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical or business discipline.
