Your Team, Your Impact
The Firmware team at Marvell builds highly integrated component platforms with high speed Silicon photonics, transmit and receive amplifiers, controller ASIC's with Marvell DSP's. These components are made operational with a highly functional embedded firmware. The team is responsible for design, verification, and validation of these integrated high speed optical components. The team performs system level testing under various operating conditions, and validates the performance of the hardware, firmware and control loops. An engineer in this team will be involved in a full product lifecycle and will carry new products from inception all the way to NPI.
What You Can Expect
  • Work individually, collaboratively, and cross-functionally on the design, implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of firmware for embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with HW and SW teams on overall design, system requirements, schematics, and hardware validation.
  • Optimize firmware for performance, reliability, and power consumption.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, debugging sessions with the team to create reliable solutions.
  • Lead bring-ups for next gen Marvell products.
  • Develop and maintain documentation - functional specifications, design documents, test specifications.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Design and implement code unit testing processes.
  • Execute frequent releases for internal proprietary firmware and external customers.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 3-5 years of related professional experience. OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 2-3 years of experience.
  • Experience with various microprocessor architectures (at least ARM or RISC-V)
  • Excellent team and communications skills; ability to work with a remotely located team
  • RTOS, queuing, memory management, interrupt processing
  • Embedded device driver experience in communications protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, MDIO, UART)
  • Experience writing control firmware for: CDR, Flash/EEPROM, Laser Driver, TEC Controller
  • Understanding of parameter calibration techniques (e.g., interpolation, splines.)
  • Expert C/Python programming skills
  • Hands-on experience debugging in real world environments with embedded diagnostics tooling such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG etc
  • Working knowledge of hardware design schematics
  • Working knowledge of version control systems (e.g., git), build environments (IDE, gmake)
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • 20% of travel is expected

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)
132,500 - 196,140, $ per annum
The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
